ROSE is transferring to the Ambassadors Theatre from 23 May 2023 for a limited run of 28 performances.
Maureen Lipman will reprise the role of Rose, having performed in previous runs of the production.
The award-winning production of Rose will run at the Ambassadors Theatre between 23 May - 18 June 2023. It has previously played to sold-out houses at the Hope Mill Theatre in Manchester and London's Park Theatre.
Lipman's performance in the show has been described as being of "unassailable greatness" (WhatsOnStage). The Olivier Award-winning actress has performed in multiple West End shows in her incredible career, including Oklahoma, multiple productions with the Royal Shakespeare Company and Messiah. She's recently been acting in the cobbled streets of Coronation Street as Evelyn Plummer.
Written by Martin Sherman (Mrs Henderson Presents), the show follows the tumultuous journey of Rose as she navigates the devastation of Nazi- occupied Europe and faces the allure of the American dream. Through the life of one woman, Rose tells the story of a century where everything changed except the violence of the strong against the weak.
Maureen Lipman said, "I am delighted to be putting Rose back on her bench for a limited run at the Ambassadors in May. I thought I could never have the power to revisit Martin Sherman's mystical, magical deeply philosophical and wildly funny creation, but Rose is in my blood, and she has to be revived."
Rose is directed by Scott Le Crass, designed by David Shields with musical composition and sound design by Julian Star and lighting design by Jane Lalljee.
