Based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning 1960 novel by Harper Lee, To Kill a Mockingbird is a coming-of-age story set in the town of Maycomb, Alabama during the Great Depression. Jean Louise 'Scout' Finch tells the story of her family in this small Southern town, from her adventures with her brother Jem to her relationship with her fearless lawyer father Atticus, who sets out to defend a black man named Tom Robinson, who has been falsely accused of raping a white woman.
Aaron Sorkin's adaptation of To Kill a Mockingbird was first seen on Broadway, where it was nominated for nine Tony Awards, winning one. It came to the West End in 2022, where it ran until 2023. It kicked off a UK tour in Leeds, which is currently in Norwich and will visit Liverpool and Milton Keynes before heading to London.
Directed by Bartlett Sher (The King and I), To Kill a Mockingbird stars Richard Coyle as Atticus Finch. Coyle will return for the West End run, joined by David Kennedy, Charlotte Luxford, Dylan Malyn, Anna Munden, Tiwai Muza, John J O’Hagan, Oscar Pearce, Jonathan Rubin, Gabriel Scott, Aaron Shosanya, Carole Stennett, Paul Albertson, Harry Attwell, Stephen Boxer, Tom Brace-Jenkins, Cheryl Burniston, Colin R Campbell, Andrea Davy, Richard Dempsey, Sarah Finigan, Phillipa Flynn and Evie Hargreaves.
The creative team includes Louisa Muller (associate director), Miriam Buether (set designer), Ed Pierce (design supervisor), Ann Roth (costume designer), Jennifer Tipton (lighting designer), Scott Lehrer (sound designer), Adam Guettel (original score), Kimberley Grigsby (musical supervisor), and Serena Hill (casting director).
To Kill a Mockingbird will play at Wyndham's Theatre from 25 June to 12 September.
