One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest in London
Based on the 1962 novel by Ken Kesey, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest is set in a psychiatric facility, where the terrifying Nurse Ratched rules over the patients with an iron fist. Chief Bromden has been silent for years, driven to the ground by a system that labels, divides and forgets about the people within it. But all that changes the day Randle Patrick McMurphy swaggers into the ward and begins to overturn everything the Big Nurse stands for.
This countercultural masterpiece has been adapted for film, stage, and television, inspiring numerous works that followed it, and the villainous figure of Nurse Ratched has continued to haunt modern audiences and readers. Now Dale Wasserman brings Kesey's novel to this stage, with Clint Dyer directing this bold, dynamic new staging starring Aaron Pierre and Giles Terera. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest is an unflinching exploration of colonialism and systemic oppression through the social structures that silence the marginalised, which feels as harrowingly relevant today as it did in the 1960s. This gripping stage adaptation will allow audiences to experience the story in a powerful and modern new light.
Whether you know the book or not, don't miss the chance to experience this powerful story of oppression and dissent on the Old Vic stage.

ExcellentMy daughter and I loved the show and thought the acting was spot on. It was the first time we'd been to The Old Vic, and we would go again. Very cosy.

Acting is very good - but this one wasn´t for meWhen I saw this was on, and having loved the film, I had to book it. I´d never been to the Old Vic before. We love the theatre, love musicals, love certain plays. This was very very slow. The acting was amazing - I did feel I was in a hospital which wasn´t the best feeling. We left feeling rather low. It´s not energetic and there´s no music really. If you love something with music and lively, this one isn´t for you.

Disappointed.Lots of noise, terrible staging. Acting average. Nurse Ratchet failed to impose. A lack of menace from the staff generally. Overall boring.
