The Last Five Years - Inspirational 2021 Production images!

The Last Five Years - London Update for The Last Five Years at the Garrick Theatre

Jason Robert Brown's awesomely good Drama Desk Award-winning musical THE LAST FIVE YEARS kicked off at the Garrick Theatre on 17th September, with the official opening night on Thursday 23rd September. It’s a powerful, emotionally rich story of two New Yorkers who fall deeply in love then fall just as deeply out of love again over the period of five years. And this is set to be its longest West End run.

Who’s involved in The Last Five Years?

You’re going to love the production images and the plot. Anyone who has had a long term relationship will recognise love’s ups and downs, presented in a particularly creative way. Cathy tells her story from the past to the present, Jamie tells his side from the start to finish, and the couple only meets in the middle of the performance at their own wedding. It’s clever, subtle, real, and accompanied by a live five piece band and live piano. Here’s who’s involved.

  • Directed by Jonathan O’Boyle
  • Molly Lynch reprises her role as Cathy (She has appeared in Sweeney Todd, Fiddler on the Roof, Sunset Boulevard, and The Light in The Piazza)
  • Oli Higginson returns as Jamie (He has appeared in The Haystack, Maggie and Ted, Napoleon Blown Apart, Bridgerton, and The Pursuit of Love, and was nominated for a Stage Debut award for his role as Jamie)
  • The choreographer is Sam Spencer-Lane
  • The Set and costume designer is Lee Newby
  • The lighting designer is Jamie Platt
  • The sound designer is Adam Fisher
  • Musical direction is by Leo Munby
  • Casting is by Jane Deitch

About the Garrick Theatre

The Garrick Theatre is an unusually pretty venue featuring lovely arched windows and intricate balconies. It’s apparently haunted by the ghost of the former manager Arthur Bourchier, who was in charge during the early part of the twentieth century. There’s a ghostly Phantom Staircase at the back of the venue where he’s sometimes seen. Past shows at the Garrick Theatre include Death Drop, The Drifters Girl, Young Frankenstein, and Bitter Wheat.
