Nicola Roberts will play the role of Persephone from 16 September until 18 January 2026.

On joining the production, she said: "I am beyond thrilled to be joining the cast of Hadestown in London. This show is a true masterpiece, and I am honoured to be a part of such a talented and inspiring team. The role of Persephone has such depth and complexity, she feels light and sorrow, joy and darkness. Her songs are rich with emotion and an absolute joy to sing, and I’m excited to explore every facet of her character on stage. I am grateful for this incredible opportunity, and I can't wait to share this journey with audiences in London. Let's take a trip to the underworld together!"

She joins Desmonda Cathabel (Disney's Aladdin, UK & Ireland Tour) as Eurydice, Chris Jarman (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Palace Theatre) as Hades, Cedric Neal (Guys and Dolls, Bridge Theatre) as Hermes, and Dylan Wood (Hadestown, Lyric Theatre) returns as Orpheus.

Completing the cast is Melanie Bright, Lauran Rae, and Allie Daniel as the Fates; Femi Akinfolarin, Michelle Andrews, Ollie Bingham, Laura Delany and Sebastian Lim-Seet play the Workers, with Lucinda Buckley, Juan Jackson, Oisín Nolan-Power, Lindo Shinda and Jasmine Triadi as Swings.

Hadestown is a story that intertwines two mythic love stories - there's young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice, then there's King Hades and his wife Persephone. With music, lyrics, and book by the Tony® and Grammy®-winning singer-songwriter and BBC Radio 2 Folk Award-winner Anaïs Mitchell, Hadestown returned to London last February five years after its sold-out engagement at the National Theatre in 2018 and a run on Broadway in 2024. It's a deeply resonant and defiantly hopeful theatrical experience.

Hadestown is currently booking at the Lyric Theatre until 15 February 2026.
