The Car Man in London
Set in the 1960s, The Car Man follows the Italian American community of the fictional town of Harmony in the American Midwest, including Dino, the owner of a diner and garage, and his family, friends and other passersby who wander into his life. With one of the most thrilling and instantly recognisable scores in New Adventures' repertoire, this thrilling story of greed, lust, betrayal, and revenge drops you in the middle of a greasy 1950's garage-diner where the lives of a small-town are shattered by the arrival of a handsome and enigmatic stranger.
This dance production by British choreographer Matthew Bourne first premiered in the West End in 2000. Its unforgettable sound is based on Bizet's iconic opera, Carmen, and its story loosely inspired by James M. Cain's 1934 novel The Postman Always Rings Twice. Vivid storytelling combines with a passionate, dramatic score with music by Terry Davies featuring Rodion Shchedrin's 'Carmen Suite', making this one of the most instantly recognisable scores in New Adventures' repertoire.
Book now and experience a dance thriller like no other, with a story about desire and revenge and a score that's just as passionate and moving.
