The Stripper in London

The year 1961, the place Pine City, California and some broad is threatening to throw herself off the top of the fanciest hotel in town. There’s trouble brewing and Lieutenant Al Wheeler wants answers.

First stop, Club Extravaganza where we meet delectable Deadpan Dolores. Her name says it all… she’s not shy, so what’s she hiding?

As Wheeler is thrust into a sleazy underworld of strip-joints and lost lonely hearts, the truth isn’t the only thing he uncovers.

Based on Carter Brown‘s beloved pulp fiction story, with music and lyrics by Richard Hartley and Richard O’Brien, the writers of cult favourite The Rocky Horror Show. Brought to you by the creative team behind Shock Treatment and The Toxic Avenger. Club Extravaganza takes residence in the Studio for six weeks.

funny, raunchy, a great night out.

Loved the show, great acting, amazing singing, fun characters. Story lacked a little and dragged a bit, could have been a bit shorter. There were some genuinely hilarious moments though and the audience involvement was great. Only wish they wouldn't smoke inside such a tiny venue.

Review: THE STRIPPER at St James Theatre

by Phil Willmott | Sunday, July 17 2016, 13:29

The Stripper - St James Theatre The smart and welcoming St James Theatre near Victoria Station has just been acquired by Andrew Lloyd Webber and will become an incubator venue for new musicals in the new year. Before that happens there's plenty of musical revivals to come, modern classics Rent and The Last Five Years are scheduled for new productions following a production of mine in the main house and it's neat little cabaret bar is currently home to an intimate staging of The Stripper, an infamous flop from the 1980s with lyrics by Richard O'Brien who wrote The Rocky Horror Show.
