An Ideal Husband in London

In this witty, clever comedy by Oscar Wilde, government minister Sir Robert Chiltern has everything a man of high society could ask for: big house, expensive clothes, immaculate reputation, loving wife. But everything flips upside down when the devious Mrs Cheveley arrives, with secrets to spill and a thirst for drama. Her revelations threaten to destroy Robert's good name and upend everything he's worked for. How far will he go to protect everything he holds dear? Find out in this deliciously witty and deviously tricksy play, packed with twists and turns and delightfully dramatic character dynamics.

Directed by the Lyric's Associate Director Nicholai La Barrie (Aladdin, God of Carnage, Jack and the Beanstalk), An Ideal Husband is one of Wilde's most popular plays: packed with scandal, political corruption, and blackmail, and told through Wilde's trademark wit and with a scathing commentary on high society. This bold new adaptation brings the darkly witty play to life for a modern audience.

Biting wit, social satire, and unforgettably eccentric characters - what more could you want from an Oscar Wilde classic? Book now and don't miss An Ideal Husband.

Worst part of night was the 19th century seating and a rude staff member. He should remember who is paying his wages

Classic

The story was very good, funny and very well played. I had to pay an extra attention though because the dialogs were not very well heard in upper circle. The overall experience was good.

Good night out

Lovely show, beautiful dresses and great acting. I did think the first 30 mins was a bit slow but then it got really interesting and pulled you in. Freddie Fox was funny and amusing. Frances Barber played MRS Cheavley you felt sorry for her then you hated her. It was lovely to see Susan Hampshire and Sally, Edward and Nathaniel played the parts of the upper crust Lords and Lady's very well, you felt there turmoil and there was some witty one liners.
