Kerry Ellis.
She will play the role of Marmee in Jo - The Little Woman Musical. The West End concert follows the next step in the musical's journey, following the release of a concept album earlier this year.
Ellis joins the previously announced cast that features Tracie Bennett (Here We Are, National Theatre) as Aunt March alongside Barry James (Les Misérables) as Grandfather/Mr. Laurence and Liam Tamne (Prince of Egypt) as John Brooke.
Completing the cast are Christine Allado (Hamilton) as Jo March, Eleanor Grant (Avatar LIVE) as Beth March, Chris Mann (The Phantom of the Opera) as Professor Bhaer, Kelly Mathieson (The Phantom of the Opera) as Meg March, Miyuki Miyagi (Beau the Musical) as Sallie Gardner, Julian Ovenden (The Crown, Netflix) as Father, Sophie Pollono (I Love That For You) as Amy March, Yazdan Qafouri (The Kite Runner) as Fred Vaughn and Tobias Turley (Mamma Mia!) as Theodore ‘Laurie’ Laurence. Final casting for the concert will be announced in the coming weeks.
Vocals Unlimited will provide ensemble/chorus performers with Tom Pearce serving as Choirmaster.
Jo - The Little Women Musical features music by Dan Redfeld, with book and lyrics by Christina Harding and John Gabriel Koladziej. The musical explores the journey of the March sisters as they transition into adulthood, with Jo March at the heart of the story. Determined to become a celebrated writer and a “voice for her generation,” Jo faces profound grief following the loss of her sister Beth. This heartbreak inspires Jo to pen the story of her sisters, channelling her sorrow into a powerful narrative that turns pain into purpose.
Jo - The Little Women Musical will perform at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane on 25 January.
