Rehearsals for the new production of Henrik Ibsen's play, written and directed by Simon Stone, have begun ahead of the play's first performance in September.

The production, which is in collaboration with Wouter van Ransbeek, presents Ibsen's most radically modern portrayal of a woman's fight for autonomy in her relationship.
The cast includes Alicia Vikander (The Danish Girl) as Ellida and Andrew Lincoln (A Christmas Carol, The Old Vic) as Edward. They are joined by Isobel Akuwudike (The Road Trip) as Hilda, Joe Alwyn (The Brutalist) as Heath, Brendan Cowell (Yerma, Young Vic) as Finn Marcet, John Macmillan (House of the Dragon) as Lyle, and Gracie Oddie-James (Grantchester) as Asa.
The Lady from the Sea follows Ellida, who is fearful she has settled too easily for her comfortable life as a well-off doctor's wife. When a lover from her past appears, she has to decide whether she chooses the life she has now built or the one she left behind.
The Lady from the Sea will play at the Bridge Theatre from 10 September to 8 November. The production follows A Midsummer Night's Dream, which plays its final performance on 23 August.
