Major new musical MARIE CURIE announces London premiere

The new musical takes on the story of the woman who contributed to finding cancer treatments.

MARIE CURIE will have its English Language premiere at London's Charing Cross Theatre this summer.

Featuring book and lyrics by Seeun Choun and music by Jongyoon Choi, the musical debuted in 2020 at the Chungmu Art Center in South Korea before a second production at the Hongik Art Center Grand Theater. It also toured to six cities across South Korea just last year.

What is MARIE CURIE about?

Marie Sklodowska Curie was a physicist, pioneer, and a parent.

She was the woman who discovered the lifesaving potential of radium to cure cancer, while the factory workers handling the glowing substance were succumbing to the grip of radium poisoning. As a woman with society against her, MARIE CURIE will explore whether she can wrestle with the potential and danger of her discovery.

Directed by Sarah Meadows (Ride) and produced by Byungwon Kang and LIVE Corp, the English-language premiere features an English book adaptation by Tom Ramsay, English lyrics adaptation and musical direction by Emma Fraser, literal translation by Ahreumbi Rew, choreography by Joanna Goodwin, sound design by Andrew Johnson, casting direction by Jane Deitch, production management by James Anderton and general management by Aria Entertainment.
