A Broadway monster hit, Some Like It Hot is heading for the West End. There are plans for a London production by the Shubert Organization and Neil Meron in partnership with Ambassador Theatre Group after it closes in America at the end of 2023.

Based on the classic Billy Wilder film starring Marilyn Monroe, Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis, Some Like It Hot has a score by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman and a book by Matthew López and Amber Ruffin. Casey Nicholaw directs and choreographs the magic.

This is the story of two male musicians who witness a mob murder in Chicago. The slick saxophone player Joe and his long-suffering friend Jerry dream up a cunning plan to escape. They decide to hide by cross-dressing, joining an all-female band on their way to Florida by train. Joe takes the part of a millionaire to win the heart of the band's sexy singer Sugar, and Jerry is chased by a genuine millionaire as the mobsters close in and things get hot.

Pure Broadway magic – It’s Some Like It Hot

The Broadway production won four Tony Awards for Best Lead Actor in a Musical for J Harrison Ghee, Best Choreography for Casey Nicholaw, Best Orchestrations for Charlie Rosen and Bryan Carter, plus Best Costumes in a Musical for Gregg Barnes. Ghee was the first ever non-binary performer to take home the Tony Award in their category, something to celebrate all on its own. The venues, dates and casting are all to be confirmed nearer the time.
