More Stars Announced for American Buffalo

American Buffalo Hollywood A-listers, John Goodman and Tom Sturridge have been announced as the stars to join the previously announced Damian Lewis on stage at Wyndhams Theatre for the major new revival of American Buffalo.

Originally written by David Mamett in 1975, this all-star revival of American Buffalo is directed by Daniel Evans, the actor turned director who runs the much praised Sheffield Theatres.

John Goodman is best known for his roles in blockbusting films such as Raising Arizona, The Big Lebowski, O Brother, Where Art Thou and Inside Llewyn Davis. However, this Hollywood superstar is no stranger to the stage, as he has appeared in recent Broadway productions of The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui and Waiting for Godot.

Although originally from the UK, Tom Sturridge has made the leap across to the pond and is best know for films such as Being Julia, Like Minds, The Boat that Rocked and most recently, On The Road. Sturridge has also starred in the award-winning Broadway production of Orphans and in the original cast of Simon Stephens’s break out play, Punk Rock. In a statement he showed his delight at being cast by saying, “It's a deep privilege to be offered the chance to do this play with Damian and John under Daniel's direction. I think the play is dangerous and delicate, funny and frightening. American Buffalo is special”.

The play first opened on Broadway on 16 February 1977, but is most probably best known because of the 1996 film adaptation that starred Dustin Hoffman.

American Buffalo runs at Wyndham's Theatre for a limited run from April 16 to June 27 2015.
