It’s been a great year for seeing some Broadway classics on the West End stage, with Oh, Mary! and Beetlejuice making their way across the pond to resounding success, a new revival of RENT currently playing, and a revival of West Side Story due to open next year. That’s one of the great things about the relationship between the West End and Broadway - there’s always scope for crossovers! Here are some of the Broadway musicals we’d be most excited to see make the journey to the West End, and our predictions for their likelihood of a transfer or revival.

The Lost Boys

Based on the 1987 cult classic film, The Lost Boys follows two brothers who move to a vampire-infested coastal town, where elder brother Michael finds himself drawn to a group of glam-rock vampires who tempt him with the promise of eternal life, leaving him torn between two worlds. This dark, funny, and seductive stage adaptation opened on Broadway this year and walked away with four wins at the Tony Awards.
Chances of a West End transfer: High! Producer Patrick Wilson already announced plans to bring The Lost Boys to the UK back in June, though no venue or dates have been officially confirmed yet. With such a successful run on Broadway and given the film's enduring popularity, we're confident that this transfer is a sure thing.
The Outsiders

Based on the powerful, heartbreaking 1967 novel by S.E. Hinton, this coming of age story follows a group of troubled young men in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Teenage Ponyboy Curtis and his older brothers are part of a gang called the Greasers: poor, downtrodden and spurned by society, and prone to violence, but fiercely loyal to each other. The novel inspired a 1983 film and a Broadway musical that premiered in 2024 and won four Tony Awards the same year, including Best Musical.
Chances of a West End transfer: High - the musical's producers confirmed a London transfer back in January of this year, though a venue and dates have yet to be announced. With its soul-stirring folk-rock score by the band Jamestown Revival, The Outsiders is sure to be a hit with West End audiences.
Buena Vista Social Club

This rollicking musical reimagines the story of the Buena Vista Social Club, a musical ensemble of Cuban musicians in 1996 who assembled in Havana to make what would become a historic recording session, with the resulting album showcasing the popular styles of the time, such as son, bolero, and danzon. It features an infectious blend of Afro-Cuban rhythm and Spanish melody. The musical opened on Broadway in 2025 and won five Tony Awards.
Chances of a West End transfer: Lead producer Orin Wolf confirmed plans for a London transfer of Buena Visa Social Club with a tentative 2027 run, but added that the team is actively searching for a suitable West End venue with the right space to capture the musical's unique vibes.
Death Becomes Her

Based on the classic 1992 film starring Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn, Death Becomes Her is a darkly funny story about two fearsome women caught in a love triangle and trying to murder each other - each not realising that the other's drunk a magical elixir that grants immortality. Full of body horror, macabre mayhem, black comedy, and femme fatales, the film became an instant cult classic, spawning a Broadway musical in 2024.
Chances of a West End transfer: While nothing has officially been confirmed, industry rumours suggest that this musical is being eyed for a West End transfer, with the Broadway production having concluded its run in June this year. There's definitely an appetite for it: Broadway star Megan Hilty recently performed songs from the show during a solo concert at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in May, while West End leading lady Sheridan Smith expressed a keenness to be cast in a future West End production.
Good Night and Good Luck

Written by and starring George Clooney in his Broadway debut, Good Night and Good Luck is adapted by Clooney and Grant Heslov’s 2005 film that explores the conflict between veteran CBS journalist Edward R. Murrow and U.S. Senator Joseph McCarthy during the fearmongering of the 1950s. The hit play became the highest-grossing non-musical play in Broadway history, surpassing $4 million in a single week.
Chances of a West End transfer: Clooney hinted during a 2025 appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers that there would be a "roadshow" for the production and that "it might end up in London." While there's been no official confirmation, industry speculation has leaned strongly towards a possible West End transfer. The Broadway production finished its run in June 2025.
Spamalot

This Tony Award-winning musical lovingly rips off Monty Python and the Holy Grail with its tongue-in-cheek retelling of the story of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table as they embark on an ill-fated quest for the Holy Grail.
Chances of a West End transfer: There were rumours floating around in January this year about plans to bring Spamalot to London, but these have since gone quiet, suggesting that a transfer may have been shelved or that discussions are still underway. You can't get any more British than King Arthur or Monty Python, so we remain hopeful! The musical was last seen in the West End in 2013.
Little Shop of Horrors

This horror comedy rock musical, loosely based on the low-budget 1960 black comedy film of the same name, follows a hapless florist shop worker who raises a plant that feeds on human blood and flesh. It features a score by Alan Menken that's packed with early 1960s-style rock and roll, doo-wop and early Motown.
Chances of a West End transfer: No West End transfer has officially been announced, but we're keeping our fingers crossed! Little Shop of Horrors last appeared in the West End in 2018, and a new major UK revival is currently playing at the Hope Mill Theatre in Liverpool before heading to the Liverpool Playhouse. So there's certainly an appetite among UK audiences for this zany black comedy.
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street

Stephen Sondheim’s deliciously dark musical is inspired by the legendary tale of a murderous English barber. Escaped convict turned demonic barber Sweeney Todd sets up a murderous barber shop alongside his equally bloodthirsty neighbour Mrs Lovett in a bid to get revenge against the corrupt judge who abducted his wife and daughter.
Chances of a West End transfer: There's been no official confirmation just yet, but fans can remain hopeful. A major new UK revival starring Ramin Karimloo is currently playing at Birmingham Rep. This 12-time Tony Award-winning classic has been a hit with audiences since it opened on Broadway in 1979 and the West End in 1980, so we're keeping our fingers crossed that Sweeney Todd returns to its (spiritual) home in London soon!
Hell’s Kitchen

This Tony Award-winning musical features music and lyrics by Alicia Keys and tells a semi-autobiographical story inspired by Keys’ upbringing in Manhattan in the 90s, in which seventeen-year-old Ally searches for her identity through a passion for music.
Chances of a West End transfer: Although this musical frequently appears on industry ‘most wanted’ transfer lists, there has been no confirmation of an official transfer. The original Broadway production concluded its run in February 2026 and producers hinted at plans for a national tour and overseas productions.
In the Heights

Told with Lin Manuel Miranda's signature style and flair, this hip-hop musical tells the story of a Dominican-American neighbourhood in Washington Heights, New York, unfolding over three days around Independence Day.
Chances of a West End transfer: No official plans or confirmation in sight. The last major UK production of In the Heights closed in 2017, winning three Olivier Awards. Given the success of the original production, not to mention the immense popularity Miranda has earned through Hamilton - still going strong in the West End - this feels like a great candidate for a West End revival.
