PADDINGTON THE MUSICAL announces lead casting for West End premiere

The brand-new musical adapted from the beloved books by Michael Bond will open in the West End this November at the Savoy Theatre.

Paddington The Musical will follow the bear's journey from Peru to London in search of somewhere to call home. Inspired by one of the three award-winning StudioCanal films, the musical features a book by Jessica Swale and music and lyrics by Tom Fletcher.

Directed by Luke Sheppard (Just For One Day), the principal cast features Timi Akinyosade (Man Like Mobeen) as Tony, Amy Booth-Steel (The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry, Chichester Festival Theatre) as Lady Sloane, Tarinn Callender (Hamilton, Victoria Palace Theatre)as Grant, Delilah Bennett-Cardy (Bugsy Malone, UK Tour) as Judy Brown, Adrian Der Gregorian (Made in Dagenham, Adelphi Theatre) as Mr Brown, Tom Edden (Oliver!, Theatre Royal Drury Lane) as Mr Curry, Brenda Edwards (Chicago, UK Tour) as Tanya, Amy Ellen Richardson (Matilda The Musical, Cambridge Theatre) as Mrs Brown, Victoria Hamilton-Barritt (Hadestown, Lyric Theatre) as Millicent Clyde, Teddy Kempner (Girl from the North Country, Old Vic) as Mr Gruber, and Bonnie Langford (Sondheim's Old Friends, Gielgud Theatre) as Mrs Bird. The role of Jonathan Brown will be shared by Joseph Bramley, Leo Collon, Stevie Hare and Jasper Rowe.

News on the cast and designer of Paddington Bear himself will be announced in due course.

Completing the creative team is Matt Brind as musical supervisor, orchestrator and arranger, Ellen Kane as choreographer, Tom Pye as scenic designer, Gabriella Slade as costume designer, Neil Austin as lighting designer, Gareth Owen as sound designer, Ash J Woodward as video designer and animator, Campbell Young Associates as hair, wig and make-up designers, Majid Adin for illustration and additional animation, Laura Bangay as musical director, and Natalie Gallacher for Pippa Ailion and Natalie Gallacher Casting as casting director. Nick Hokaday is the children's casting director, Javier Marzan is the physical comedy consultant, with Tobago and D-Lime providing the production additional music consultancy.

A fantastic addition to family shows in London before the end of 2025, Paddington The Musical is currently booking at the Savoy Theatre until 25 May 2026.
