What London shows are closing in August 2025
As a new month begins, we sadly say goodbye to a few standout productions across London. Imelda Staunton and her daughter Bessie Carter will conclude their performances in a new production of George Bernard Shaw’s Mrs Warren’s Profession. It’s your last chance to see Conor McPherson’s Girl From the North Country at the Old Vic and Four Play, a revival of Jake Brunger’s comedy at King’s Head Theatre. Catch these unforgettable doses of escapism before it's too late!
What London shows are opening in August 2025
There is an electric array of shows opening in London during the month of August. Some of our favourites coming up include Liz Duffy Adam’s new play, Born With Teeth, starring Edward Bluemel and Ncuti Gatwa. More new additions to the theatre scene are the debuts of The Producers and Brigadoon which will bring some beloved shows back to London for the first time in years! That’s not all though, read our guide to the ‘10 New London Theatre Shows in August 2025’.
What we reviewed in July
EVITA at London Palladium

Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s political commentary on the rise and fall of the enigmatic woman of Argentine politics known universally as Evita, and her comparatively uncharismatic husband, General Juan Peron, is the stuff of musical theatre legend. Back again after 30 years, starring Rachel Zegler, this is a raucous, high-energy, slick and intense concert depiction of a woman from more sedate times.
GIRL FROM THE NORTH COUNTRY at The Old Vic

Girl from the North Country already has something of a pedigree, having garnered multiple awards and critical success since its first outing in 2017. So does the production still have something worthwhile to say to a London audience, or does it merely serve as a commercial filler for The Old Vic? The answer, is almost certainly a little of both.

TILL THE STARS COME DOWN at Theatre Royal Haymarket

Beth Steel's caustic family drama has a whole host of unexpected skeletons in its closet, and the excellent cast which includes many from last year’s National Theatre run, remain hell-bent on airing them.
