Thriller - Live description
Thriller – Live: Boogie on down to Michael Jackson’s greatest hits
This is more of an exploration and celebration of singer-songwriter and street dance whizz Michael Jackson’s spectacular talents than a biography. It doesn’t cover every aspect of the great man’s life in any detail, but you’ll enjoy a fast-paced, runaway stream of massive smash hits that made him a household name worldwide.
Thriller Live – The Story
In 1988 Adrian Grant, the man behind the stage show, was so taken with Jackson’s talent that he created the world’s first Michael Jackson fan magazine. Two years later, with a circulation of more than twenty five thousand, he was invited to Jackson’s famous funfair-filled home, Neverland, and a lifelong friendship was born. Kicking off with Jackson’s early Motown and blues tunes and covering his disco, indie and pop smashes, this show tracks Jackson’s success through the decades via his music, an affectionate and respectful look at Jackson’s musical achievements from one of his greatest fans.
Thriller Live, a genuine West End musical masterpiece
Take your seats and boogie on down as the cast belts out song after wonderful song, covering the early Motown and Jackson Five days right up to the solo successes that made such an impression on generations of music lovers. And the dance sequences are simply breath-taking. If you were thrilled by Jackson’s pop videos you’ll be equally enthralled by this West End masterpiece.
The audience always participates in the Jackson classic Shake Your Body Down, giving you the opportunity to get involved and feel even closer to one of the greatest musical stars of our times. If you weren’t lucky enough to catch Michael Jackson live before his tragic death, the stage show goes a long way towards making up for it. Whatever your age, you’ll enjoy hearing his famous songs performed live on stage by a troupe of extremely talented people, with stunning costumes, fantastic choreography and, of course, every single one of the singer’s uniquely funky dance steps.
Thriller Live song list
This spectacular show contains thirty five of Michael Jackson’s greatest and best loved hits. Act one covers Music and Me, ABC, The Love You Save, I Want You Back and I’ll Be There. Show You the Way, This Place Hotel, Another Part of Me, Shake Your Body Down and Blame It On The Boogie. She’s Out of My Life, Off The Wall, Get on the Floor, Rock With You and Never Can Say Goodbye, Don’t Stop Til You Get Enough and Can You Feel It.
Act two sees the cast performing mega-hits Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’, Working Day and Night, Dancing Machine, PYT, Beat It, The Way You Make Me Feel, I Just Can’t Stop Loving You, Smooth Criminal, Dirty Diana, Dangerous, Man in the Mirror, They Don’t Care About Us, Heal the World, Billie Jean, Thriller itself, Bad and Black or White.

To be honest the show is not that great. Some of the singers are amazing and some of the dancers too, but in general the level barely reaches the average. The show itself it's not even that great. A bit fewer songs and some more story would be great. But it's just a large compilation of Michael's songs.

This show which covers Michael Jackson’s musical career and is 100% music and dance (with a superb live band) is a brilliant feel good and touching show, full of energy. And I just liove the costumes! A cast bursting with talent and a love for his music. Would go.....AGAIN!!!!!!!!!

First of all, the singing, the dancing, the whole performance was outstanding and a must-see for anyone/everyone - whether a person is a fan of Michal Jackson's music or not, the show is exhilarating, well performed and entertaining - young or old, black or white, this show is for everyone. Secondly, the show's host's, who are also two of the lead singers, give a great history of Jackson's life and career. Lastly, the show is so good, that it is a real shame that curtains will close on April 26th 2020 - this show, has been going for 11 years, and is one that, in my opinion, should have a permanent residence at the Lyric.

If you’re a big theatregoer, don’t go see this show. It’s okay, but felt like I was watching a local theatre companies/dance schools yearly show not a west end production. Some of the singers had amazing voices, not all the dancers were in sync and the young Michael Jackson couldn’t dance and his voice wasn’t great...Do think the tickets are overpriced for a very short and average show

Trip down Michael Jackson's music memory lane. Awesome singers, who all have a unique aspect of Michael Jackson's voice/way of singing, but also bring their own individual style to it, always reverent to the original. I was especially blown away by Vivienne Ekwulugo, what a voice!

Average at best. Random mix of classic hits but this show misses the mark. Strange collection of 4 MJ leads with some dubious vocals. Setting looks like a cheap nightclub. If this was an amateur show it would be a 6/10. At £90 a ticket it rates as 3/10. Unsure how this has remained a west end show. I guess others have a different perspective..

If you want a Michael Jackson tribute show then this is for you. There is no story, no acting and a lot of vocal stack being used. I’m actually convinced one of the singers was just miming to the Michael Jackson backing track. The 4 main singers had great voices and clearly knew what they were doing. This just wasn’t the show for me.

I was fully immersed in this show from the first beat that was played! This is a wonderful portrayal of Michael Jackson’s life. You forget what a genius he was and how much his music has influenced the charts. Peter Andre was superb and was the star of the show. Another time I saw this Jason was fantastic and Hayden has been in it a long time and is really great too. I can’t remember the other people’s names but they all dance and sing so well and are complimentary to MJs voice and dance moves. This will have you wanting to get up in your seat and dance away with them! I really recommend going.

We were lucky to have the bonus of seeing Peter Andre in the show. It definitely made the show more entertaining. Music was excellent but I would say it is slightly less polished than other West End Shows and as a result overpriced. All that said the whole family enjoyed the show.
