Thriller – Live: Boogie on down to Michael Jackson’s greatest hits

This is more of an exploration and celebration of singer-songwriter and street dance whizz Michael Jackson’s spectacular talents than a biography. It doesn’t cover every aspect of the great man’s life in any detail, but you’ll enjoy a fast-paced, runaway stream of massive smash hits that made him a household name worldwide.

Thriller Live – The Story

In 1988 Adrian Grant, the man behind the stage show, was so taken with Jackson’s talent that he created the world’s first Michael Jackson fan magazine. Two years later, with a circulation of more than twenty five thousand, he was invited to Jackson’s famous funfair-filled home, Neverland, and a lifelong friendship was born. Kicking off with Jackson’s early Motown and blues tunes and covering his disco, indie and pop smashes, this show tracks Jackson’s success through the decades via his music, an affectionate and respectful look at Jackson’s musical achievements from one of his greatest fans.

Thriller Live, a genuine West End musical masterpiece

Take your seats and boogie on down as the cast belts out song after wonderful song, covering the early Motown and Jackson Five days right up to the solo successes that made such an impression on generations of music lovers. And the dance sequences are simply breath-taking. If you were thrilled by Jackson’s pop videos you’ll be equally enthralled by this West End masterpiece.

The audience always participates in the Jackson classic Shake Your Body Down, giving you the opportunity to get involved and feel even closer to one of the greatest musical stars of our times. If you weren’t lucky enough to catch Michael Jackson live before his tragic death, the stage show goes a long way towards making up for it. Whatever your age, you’ll enjoy hearing his famous songs performed live on stage by a troupe of extremely talented people, with stunning costumes, fantastic choreography and, of course, every single one of the singer’s uniquely funky dance steps.

Thriller Live song list

This spectacular show contains thirty five of Michael Jackson’s greatest and best loved hits. Act one covers Music and Me, ABC, The Love You Save, I Want You Back and I’ll Be There. Show You the Way, This Place Hotel, Another Part of Me, Shake Your Body Down and Blame It On The Boogie. She’s Out of My Life, Off The Wall, Get on the Floor, Rock With You and Never Can Say Goodbye, Don’t Stop Til You Get Enough and Can You Feel It.

Act two sees the cast performing mega-hits Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’, Working Day and Night, Dancing Machine, PYT, Beat It, The Way You Make Me Feel, I Just Can’t Stop Loving You, Smooth Criminal, Dirty Diana, Dangerous, Man in the Mirror, They Don’t Care About Us, Heal the World, Billie Jean, Thriller itself, Bad and Black or White.

Thriller night

Great show with great music, only one slight issue when we purchased our seats they where sold as view not restricted, unfortunately one of our seats the right hand side of the stage was out of view, but taking nothing away from the show really enjoyed the singing at dancing

London Box Office customer

Not what I expected!!

Performance by the vocal artists was good but the dance artists didn't live up to expectations. Michael Jackson 's dances are known to be high energy fast moving dances but the dancers looked slow and rusty which did not do justice to Michael's style. Choreography had nothing special about it and looked pretty average. Costumes were average too. Overall an average show which lied below my expectations.

Amazing !!!!

London Box Office customer

A must see

This is the 3rd time I have seen the show . This time I took my grandchildren aged 10 & 13 . They absolutely loved it would 100% recommend if your a micheal Jackson fan

London Box Office customer

Visuals and sound quality of main THRILLER tune slightly disappointing . Personally not too keen on audience participation ...clappy clappy ...everybody on feet etc etc Overall good MJ tribute show.

London Box Office customer

Good worth seeing

Unfortunately the MJ that sang Billie Jean and Thriller at the end MIMED. 100% so sad about this. And why did they have a female singer when there never was not even in the Jackson 5. Basic ly tge show was a mini concert not a westend show.

London Box Office customer

good lively show

cast made it all enjoyable reasonable priced tickets you give good value gave us better seats on the night

London Box Office customer

Micheal is the best!

London Box Office customer

One Word.... FANTASTIC!!!

Just about the best all round family show in the West End. A beautiful theatre in a great location and with friendly helpful staff. The show itself is simply not stop entertainment, full of energy and delivered by a cast who clearly love being part of this testimony to the genius of Michael Jackson. Whether you are 5 or 105 you will be in a Boogie Wonderland from start to finish!! 10 out of 10 and an absolute must for Jacko fans!!!

Absolutely amazing show. Everyone was outstanding at dancing and singing! Voices were pitch perfect.

London Box Office customer

Thriller

I must say its a show not to miss . The only trouble I had was the seating was poor visabilaty. As in you didn't see the part on the stage where they were performing on top of the bridge . . You could only see their feet.

London Box Office customer

London Box Office customer

Must see

The show was brilliant & all the performers were excellent, both singers & dancers alike, The thing which surprised me though, was that there was not a single performer who played Micheal Jackson throughout the show. His songs were performed by many different artists, only one of whom was obviously portraying Micheal. Some of his songs were performed by female artists, although they were excellent & sounded very much like Micheal Jackson.

London Box Office customer

Superb show brilliant acting dancing and singing

Went with my family and we thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish

London Box Office customer

Not as good as before

We was met st the front door by a very rude worker called Zoe. She was shouting at us and other customers. Reported her to the manager but he did not seem bothered by our concerns and told us she was only doing her job. Very poor start. The only good singer was Hayden. The other 3 were poor. Dancers were excellent throughout especially Leslie

Expected more polished performance

We saw the Saturday matinee. Firstly, the show is purely a sequence of Michael Jackson's hit songs but wasn't sure what to expect ahead of the show. There is literally no story line at all apart some sporadic commentary about how many records MJ sold. The first half of the show was a little bit lack-lustre, the main female vocalist seemed liked she wanted to be elsewhere, the child actor didn't have a strong voice and one of the other male vocalists was just ok. Given Michael was a perfectionist it didn't look like a very polished production - baggy and ill fitting costumes, bad fitting wigs, background dancers was not very crisp as a whole group unit (better individually) so felt a little disappointed. However, after the interlude the performance seem to perk up and the other younger vocalist and Michael Jackson lookalike took more of a centre stage. Much better dance sequences such Smooth Crimial etc. They sang some of MJ's greatest hits so you find yourself enjoying it because of that rather than the overall production. In summary, the show is ok - have a couple of drinks beforehand and you'll have fun because of the songs. The first half of the production wasn't great but second half makes up for it and brings the overall rating up to an "ok".

London Box Office customer

Amazing

This is our second time and we loved it as much as the first time, brilliant. Amazing cast.

London Box Office customer

Good show

Lyric theatre very old and out dated, bar cash only ?. Just bottles served no drafts. Good views all round where ever you sat. Thriller was good but unfortunately some Micheal Jackson's songs were ruined just like someone singing them on karaoke.

London Box Office customer

A thrill a minute

Great nostalgic show. Lovely singers and cast

London Box Office customer

London Box Office customer

Thrilling Thriller

Had a box A was bit too close to stage and audience. Show was very energetic and dancers were brilliant. Little disappointed in 'Michael Jackson" he mimed the songs although his moves were good although too much crutch holding. The 4 main singers were amazing!

London Box Office customer

Good music

Tribute act to Michael Jackson music

London Box Office customer

Shapeless, aimless, repetitive. Probably our worst ever show experience and we've had many scores of them in London and in the provinces.

London Box Office customer

Average. Expected better.

Not the best show I've seen. Wouldn't watch again but it wasn't terrible. Singing was good, but it wasn't much of a performance. Expected a bigger show.

Wow!

Thriller Live is absolutely phenomenal. I have now been 8 times in just over 12 months....I love it so much. Dajiow is brilliant and the music, dancing, choreography, singing, staging and lighting is fantastic. You haven't lived yet if you haven't seen this show. The Thriller part is a little scary for little ones so parents just be pre-warned. I will be going again very soon. It definitely gives you the "feel-good factor". Thriller is a must for everybody! Review: THRILLER LIVE at the Apollo Theatre

12 Oct 2015 in Reviews

Thriller Live As a Michael Jackson fan I was intrigued how the evening would pan out, hoping it wouldn’t just be a concert with carbon copy Michael Jacksons.

I needn't have worried.
