Tosca - English National Opera in London
Puccini's classic opera is relocated to a concert hall in an unidentified European state overrun by civil war, where opera singer Floria Tosca plans a secret meeting with her lover, the painter Mario Cavaradossi. But the corrupt police chief Scarpi is hot on their heels, transforming the place of music into a site of fear and violence. Over the course of a single night, Tosca is forced to fight for her love, her honour, and her life, in a breath-taking story about the enduring power of love and art to defy tyranny.
Following the success of Dead Man Walking in 2025, ENO Artistic Director Annilese Miskimmon reimagines Puccini's timeless opera in a modern setting, exploring the art of resistance and love in the face of political censorship. Experience this thrilling opera in a whole new light in this gripping new production that feels urgently relevant to the modern age. Featuring some of Puccini's most famous arias, including Vissi d'arte (Love and Music) and E lucevan le stelle, d'arte (With the Stars Shining Brightly), its iconic score is a stunning accompaniment to a fast-paced and heart-pounding story about defying oppression. Internationally acclaimed Grammy Award winner Axelle Fanyo makes her ENO debut as Tosca, with her lover Cavaradossi played by tenor Chaz'men Williams-Ali and sadistic police chief Scarpia is played by Christopher Purves and later Craig Colclough.
Puccini's Tosca is one of the world's most performed opera - here's your chance to experience it as you've never seen it before.
