Crazy For You description
Dance across to the Gillian Lynne Theatre for an unmissable revival of Crazy For You. Starring the Olivier-nominated Charlie Stemp, Drama Desk Award winner Tom Edden and star of Wicked, Carly Anderson.
What is Crazy For You about?
Bobby Child (played by Charlie Stemp) can't decide whether to follow his dreams of entering show business or follow his family's wishes to run their bank. When he reluctantly heads to Deadrock in Nevada to foreclose a theatre, he meets, and falls in love with, the theatre owner's daughter, Polly (Carly Anderson).
Desperate to prove himself to her, Bobby decides to put on a show - complete with dancers from Zangler Follies in New York City to save the theatre, renew the town and hopefully win Polly's love.
A revival of the original Olivier award-winning production, Crazy For You is packed with gorgeous Gershwin melodies. With familiar hits like Someone to Watch Over Me, I Got Rhythm and They Can't Take That Away from Me, this production will leave you dancing all the way home!
Who is involved in Crazy For You?
Taking on the role of Bobby, is Charlie Stemp (Half A Sixpence, Mary Poppins), Carly Anderson (Wicked) will be playing Polly, and Drama Desk Award winner Tom Edden will be taking on the role of Bela Zangler. Further casting is to be announced.
Adapted from the book by Ken Ludwig, audiences can expect to hear plenty of glorious Gershwin hits, including Someone to Watch Over Me, I Got Rhythm and They Can't Take That Away from Me.
Directed and choreographed by multi-Tony and Olivier award winner Susan Stroman, this spectacular production transfers from a sell-out season at the Chichester Festival Theatre.

The music is great Gershwin. The costumes, the lighting the sets are all excellent. Susan Stroman continues her excellence in directing and choreography. However, it is Charlie Stemp that puts the icing on the cake. His dancing is amazing. And, he is perfect for the role of Bobby. This is the third show I’ve seen him in. He’s absolutely wonderful!

I chose this show because I am a fan of Charlie Stemp, but alas, he had the night off! My disappointment may cloud my opinion of the show. The show was energetic with lots of dancing but seemed a little dated to me. Obviously the music is Gershwin so that dates it, the jokes, while amusing, were also old! For me the costumes were the star of the show in the absence of Mr Stemp.

Of course the main role couple was incredibly great but all the other cast was also really talented actors. I myself is a dancer and I know how the level of singing & dancing was so high. I think this new show is "the must see musical" this year.

Crazy for you is a perfect show to go and see for all the family. The main setting is in a western around putting on a show to save the town. The dancing was AMAZING!The costumes were very glamorous and the songs sent you back in time. What we weren't expecting though was just how funny the actors lines and timing were, it had the whole audience laughing! Loved the show and can recommend to all. Got a standing ovation from all at the end! If that's not a recommendation I don't know what is!
