Review: MOTOWN - THE MUSICAL at Shaftesbury Theatre

Motown: The Musical MOTOWN is a brand new musical that has flown into the West End after a hugely successful run on Broadway. For millions of people their generation is defined by the music of Motown and no matter what your age, this catalogue of hits has something for everybody to enjoy. From classics such as Reet Petite and Shop Around to a medley of Jackson 5 songs and the Stevie Wonder Classic: Signed, Sealed, Delivered I’m yours, this is a Jukebox musical that really lives up to its name. Looking around the audience, it is clear to see that from the very first chord MOTOWN is the perfect night out.

A Midsummer Night's Dream The new Artistic Director of the Globe Theatre, Emma Rice, has had a big success with her first production at the helm.

She’s chosen that evergreen favourite A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM to kick things off. Perhaps because its youthful exuberance is a symbol of the fresh life she wants to breathe into the place or simply because it’s one of the few Shakespeare plays she’s read.

Your Ever Loving - Theatre N16 1974 London. Paul Hill gets arrested for The Guildford Pub bombing. Hill, Gerry Conlon, Patrick Armstrong and Carole Richardson soon become known as The Guildford Four and are convicted of murder and sentenced to life imprisonment. In Martin McNamara’s YOUR EVER LOVING, playing at THEATRE N16, directors Jamie Eastlake and Sarah Chapleo tell Paul Hill’s story, a story of a man who spent 15 years in prison for a crime he did not commit. And they do so in a harrowing and unapologetic way whilst asking questions about Britain’s past and present.
