Due to open as part of the Westfield shopping centre, the new 620-seat venue will offer an intimate and flexible auditorium, where every seat will provide theatregoers with a fantastic view. Capital Theatre will also accommodate premium rehearsal rooms and first-class backstage facilities.

Plans for the new Capital Theatre to open have now been pushed back to 2026, including the run of Dirty Dancing.

Produced by Karl Sydow, Dirty Dancing is a romantic drama set in the 1960s and follows the story of Frances "Baby" Houseman, a young woman who falls in love with her dance instructor, Johnny Castle, during a summer vacation with her family. The musical offers a fresh take on the beloved story, script, and music from the film. Not forgetting the classic soundtrack of over 35 hit songs, including 'Hungry Eyes', 'Do You Love Me?' and '(I've Had) The Time Of My Life'.

In a statement released on social media by the producers has said: "Due to encountering planning and design issues during the early stages of construction of the Capital Theatre at Westfield London, the opening date of Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story on Stage is to be delayed. The producers apologise for the inconvenience that this may cause and are contacting all ticket holders directly. The producers are taking the opportunity to further enhance the venue, adding a full-size double height rehearsal studio and additional backstage and front of house facilities. These additional extensions and improvements require the build to extend beyond the end of 2025, so that the show and the brand-new theatre can open in 2026. Further details and new dates will be announced in due course."

People who have purchased their tickets will be contacted by their point of purchase.
