The new comedy, written and directed by Jonathan Lynn, is the final chapter in the evergreen BBC comedy series that ran from 1980 to 1984 and again from 1986 to 1988. I'm Sorry, Prime Minister heads to the West End for a limited season from later this month.

The full cast for the play at Apollo Theatre includes Griff Rhys Jones as the ex-Prime Minister Jim Hacker, alongside Clive Francis as Sir Humphrey Appleby, William Chubb (Witness for the Prosecution, London County Hall) in the role of Sir David, and Stephanie Levi-John (The Winter's Tale, National Theatre) in the role of Sophie. Completing the cast are Princess Donnough, Eliza Walters, Jeremy Rose, Robert Kitson, and Dominic McChesney.
The comedy series, entitled Yes Minister, was a British political satire sitcom written by Antony Jay and Jonathan Lynn. The series won several BAFTAs during its run. It was the favourite television programme for fans across the political spectrum, most notably those of the then-Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Margaret Thatcher. The play adaptation heads to the West End following runs at the Barn Theatre, Theatre Royal Bath, and Cambridge Arts Theatre.
I'm Sorry, Prime Minister follows the familiar characters, Jim Hacker and Humphrey Appleby, as they face their lives in retirement. Co-directed by Michael Gyngell, it promises to be as cunning, cutting, and catastrophically funny as ever.
I'm Sorry, Prime Minister will play at the Apollo Theatre from 30 January to 9 May 2026.
