I need to preface this report by reiterating that this production is still in previews, the producers have deep pockets and no doubt it will continue to evolve until the show is “frozen” - a theatre term which means no more changes are allowed before press night to allow the cast to settle in.

Review: BERNHARDT/HAMLET at the American Airlines Theater, Broadway
By Phil Willmott Friday, October 26 2018, 11:05
I hope we get this scintillating Broadway comedy with its British star, Janet McTeer, in the West End soon. It certainly deserves a transfer. Not only is is an enjoyable backstage comedy and a dramatisation of a fascinating historical event but it also tackles the red hot topicality of women in theatre at a time when so many of us are hungry for women to excel outside of the secondary roles historically allocated to them.

Review: STORIES at the National Theatre

Playwright and director Nina Raine is extraordinarily talented, almost everything she writes and/or stages seems to attract awards and acclaim like a magnet. You can read about Marianne Elliot’s triumphant re-conception of Stephen Sondheim’s musical COMPANY here but if plays are your thing you really need to catch THE INHERITANCE at the Noel Coward Theatre.
