As part of LIFT 2018, the Irish dance theatre company CoisCéim in collaboration with ANU Productions have taken over Shoreditch Town Hall for an immersive dance/performance/art installation experience, but with little consideration for those who will endure it.

John Logan’s play RED is enjoying a successful revival with a limited run (until end July) at Wyndhams Theatre and would appeal to those of an artistic inclination, or anyone who simply enjoys erudite, aesthetic verbosity - however unrealistic and flowery the phrasing occasionally feels.

It has been over forty years since Mel Brooks brought 'Young Frankenstein' to our screens, and it quickly became a cult classic. But, I wondered, is it still relevant to a new generation, will the musical version live up to its film predecessor? Would innuendo and jokes about forking and knockers still make an audience of today laugh, or does politically correctness frown upon such humour?

It would be very easy to like this piece. It would also be very easy to dislike it - and oddly enough, for exactly the same reasons.
We’re in Greenwich Village, New York at the tail end of 1938. Prohibition ended 5 years ago and various clubs (all offering alcohol and entertainment) have sprung up to cater to the seemingly limitless demand of white, wealthy, east coast Americans.


Review: ACT and TERMINAL 3 - The Print Room at the Coronet

Late to the party as usual this was my first visit to the Print Room Theatre Company at their relatively new home, the former Coronet Cinema, a stones throw from Notting Hill Station. It's a wonderful addition to London's sprawling Fringe Theatre scene.
