Sir Peter Wright's spectacular and celebrated production, created especially for Birmingham Royal Ballet and often referred to as the finest in the world, will celebrate 35 years since its world premiere this year.

The Nutcracker will be performed at the Royal Albert Hall for a limited time this December in a production designed especially to highlight the splendor of its magnificent setting.
A classic ballet, The Nutcracker tells the story of a young girl named Clara, who receives a magical nutcracker doll on Christmas Eve from her lavish parents. When the clock strikes midnight, the nutcracker comes to life and battles the evil Mouse King. As soon as King Rat is vanquished, Clara is whisked away on a magical adventure with the Nutcracker, travelling through to an enchanting kingdom where she is transformed into the Sugar Plum Fairy.
Sir Peter Wright's production is an enchanting wonderland of dancing snowflakes, a flying goose, magical Christmas trees, and of course, the Sugar Plum Fairy. In the Birmingham Royal Ballet's production of The Nutcracker, there are 60 dancers involved who wear over 150 costumes for the show, and the infamous Christmas tree transformation scene takes roughly 47 staff to complete.
Principal casting for the production includes Samara Downs, Céline Gittens, Momoko Hirata, Yu Kurihara, Sofia Liñares, Miki Mizutani, Katherine Ochoa, Beatrice Parma, Yaoqian Shang, Enrique Bejarano Vidal, Tzu-Chao Chou, Mathias Dingman, Haoliang Feng, Yasiel Hodelín Bello, Riku Ito, Mason King, Max Maslen, Lachlan Monaghan, Olivia Chang Clarke, Rosanna Ely, Reina Fuchigama, Alisa Garkavenko, Maïlène Katoch, Sofia Liñares, Katherine Ochoa and Sophie Walters.
The Nutcracker will play at the Royal Albert Hall from 29 - 31 December 2025.
