Harry Potter And The Cursed Child in London

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child – The story

This is a brand new story by J. K Rowling, and nobody except those intimately involved with its production knows what it's about. But you can bet your last pound it'll be a thrilling ride, starring the delightful Harry himself on yet another unforgettable adventure.

Jack Thorne has joined J.K to create this exciting new play, and he has an excellent track record. He's the respected writer of countless popular screenplays for radio, telly and the stage, and the director John Tiffany, a man with an already-impressive theatrical background, is also involved.

The play is booked for its world première at the Palace theatre in summer 2016 and you can buy tickets from autumn 2015 onwards. There'll be more details released later in summer 2015, and as you can imagine the buzz is already gathering momentum.

We're fully expecting a dramatic run on tickets when they're finally released. Theatreland is poised for a spectacular sell-out and Potter fans from all around the world are going to be flocking to the capital for the event. This is going to be quite something...

The play is being produced by Sonia Friedman Productions with Colin Callender’s Playground Entertainment, in tandem with Harry Potter Theatrical Productions. Steven Hoggett takes care of Movement. The stage set designs, which will no doubt be a mind-blowing affair, come from the talented Christine Jones. Katrina Lindsay is responsible for the costumes. As you can imagine they'll be spectacular. And the lighting is designed by Neil Austin.

Music comes from Imogen Heap and Gareth Fry does the sound design. Last but by no means least, Jeremy Chernick will be creating the special effects. If it's anything like the Potter films, you're in for a seriously special theatrical treat, something that'll entertain you beyond all expectations.

This is the latest tale in an epic series already numbering seven novels. Sit on any commuter train in Britain and the carriages are stuffed with adults completely unable to put their Harry Potter book down. And kids adore the stories just as much – Harry has an incredibly wide appeal and he never fails to thrill.

As we write J.K Rowling is busy working on the screenplay for the next Potter film, this time the screen version of the hugely popular companion book to the Potter series, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. It's another treat in the pipeline for anyone Potter-obsessed, or indeed anyone of any age who loves a jolly good, rip-roaring, magic-packed adventure.

Nice idea

It's a good show, I think, my main complaint is the seating and that's not their fault, I couldn't work out if the pausing, stuttery delivery if hermione was intentional for the character or just not great delivery but she's an olivier award winning actress so my guess is it was just her impersonation of Emma Watson. I enjoyed the limited amount I saw but again, not the productions fault.

We need to talk about Harry

by Phil Willmott | Friday, June 10 2016, 09:58

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child There have been many stern requests over the last week or so for audiences not to give away the secrets contained within the two part Harry Potter and the Cursed Child production, now premiering at the Palace Theatre.

On the face of it that seems absolutely fair enough, after all, everyone hates "spoilers" about TV programmes. If anyone gives away anything about an episode of GAME OF THRONES that I haven't seen I get furious. I can see no reason why we shouldn't feel the same about a theatre show and protecting the surprises it contains.
