Review: WASTE at the National Theatre

Waste There were dramatic scenes on and off stage at the National Theatre last night when an audience member in the front row suffered a suspected heart attack four minutes before the end of the press night performance, which had to be stopped so the man could receive medical help.

After a short delay the stage manager announced that whilst they waited for an ambulance the patient and his family were happy for the performance to restart and conclude, so the evening’s final lines about life and death had a horrible poignancy that had us all on the edge of our seats.

The War of the Worlds set to land in the West End next year

The War of the Worlds A new musical stage adaptation of H.G. Wells’ novel The War of the Worlds is due to come to the West End in early February 2016.

Composer Jeff Wayne brings his ionic 1978 musical version of the classic science fiction story alive on stage with the help of ground-breaking 3D holograms and a full live orchestra, conducted by Wayne himself.

Red Velvet comes to the West End

Red Velvet - Garrick Theatre - Kenneth Branagh The multi award-winning production of Lolita Chakrabarti's play Red Velvet is to come to the Garrick Theatre next year as part of the Kenneth Branagh season.

The Olivier Award-winning actor Adrian Lester will once again take on the role of one of the first black American actors, Ira Aldridge.

Could The King and I be waltzing into the West End?

The King and I Theatreland is awash with rumours of the possible West End transfer of the Broadway smash-hit revival of The King and I.

The current Broadway production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's classic musical The King and I picked up four gongs at this years Tony Awards, including Best Revival of a Musical, Best Costume Design of a Musical, Best Leading Actress in a Musical for Kelli O'Hara, and Best Featured Actress in a Musical for Ruthie Ann Miles.

Full casting announced for West End transfer of Hangmen

Hangmen - Wyndham's Theatre Full casting has been announced for the West End transfer of Martin McDonagh’s smash-hit new play Hangmen, due to open at Wyndham’s Theatre on the 7 December 2015.

Director and actor Andy Nyman will be replacing Reece Shearsmith in the title role; he will be joined by Tony Hirst as Bill and Craig Parkinson as Inspector Fry.
David Morrissey and Johnny Flynn will reprise their roles as Harry and Mooney, respectively. They will be joined once again by James Dryden, Sally Rogers, Josef Davies, John Hodgkinson, Simon Rouse, Ryan Pope and Bronwyn James.
