Review of Cats at the London Palladium

Cats at the London Palladium Not as good as the 20 years ago, but a magical evening nevertheless. For those who have seen it before it brings back old memories, for the newcomers looking for star quality, look no further than Nicole Scherzinger.

It was once the longest running musical in West End history, running for 21 years and nearly 9,000 performances. It originally sported a cast that included Bonnie Langford, Brian Blessed, Sarah Brightman, Wayne Sleep and of course Elaine Paige.

Gypsy comes to the West End in March 2015

Gypsy The Musical The West End transfer of Chichester Festival Theatre’s acclaimed revival of Stephen Sondheim’s Gypsy has been confirmed for a 35 week run, starting 30 March 2014.

The production staring Imelda Staunton as the iconic figure of Mamma Rose, will play at the Savoy Theatre in the heart of London’s West End from 30 March to 28 November 2015, replacing Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, the hit show currently calling the Savoy Theatre home.

Assassins Not all musicals are glitz and glamour or romantic epics sweeping us up in tragic love from the barricades to Saigon. Take the latest top notch and star lead production at the Menier Chocolate Factory which seems certain to be West End bound when it finishes its run there in March.

In 1990 the composer Stephen Sondheim, having bored Broadway with a show about imperialism in South China (Pacific Overtures) and captivated audiences with a psychopathic cut throat, (Sweeney Todd) turned his attention to another dark subject.

Theatrical triumphs celebrated at the London Evening Standard Theatre Awards

London Evening Standard Theatre Awards The stars of stage and screen took to the red carpet for the London Evening Standard Theatre Awards and revelled in the brilliance of some of this year’s award-winning productions.

The ceremony, presented by Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon, proved to be a hugely glamorous affair, with guests including Naomi Campbell, Dame Helen Mirren, Damian Lewis and David and Victoria Beckham, all dressed to impress as they arrived at the London Palladium.

Motown the Musical will open in the West End next year!

Motown the Musical The producers of Motown The Musical have finally broken the silence surrounding the speculated arrival of this Broadway success. They have now confirmed that the production will play in London in 2015, but an exact date has yet to be confirmed.

The original Broadway production of Motown The Musical is due to close in New York at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre on 18 January, but word is that it may return to the bright lights of the Big Apple in 2016.
