Shakespeare's Globe has announced the full cast and creative team for Much Ado About Nothing.
Ken Nwosu and Pippa Nixon. Headshots provided by production.
Much Ado About Nothing, Shakespeare's wittiest comedy, takes place in sun-soaked, decadent world of Messina, where the war is over and the soldiers are returning home and getting ready for romance. Young soldier Claudio falls instantly in love with the sweet Hero, and his friend Don Pedro is determined to bring the two lovers together. Meanwhile, Hero's cousin Beatrice, who has sworn off marriage, is butting heads with Benedick, a self-proclaimed woman-hater, but there's undeniable tension sizzling beneath their back-and-forth. But when Don Pedro's jealous brother Don John begins scheming to disrupt the upcoming nuptials, jealousy and lies threaten to derail the happy ending.
The Globe production will star Ken Nwosu as Benedick and Pippa Nixon as Beatrice, with Geraldine Alexander as Sister, Matilda Bailes as Margaret, Marlowe Chan-Reeves as Borachio, Joshua John as Claudio, Assa Kanouté as Hero, Richard Katz as Dogberry, Kaffe Keating as Seacole and Messenger, Os Leanse as Verges, Adam Long as Don Pedro, Jonathan McGuiness as Leonato, and Joseph Potter as Don John.
The production will be directed by Chelsea Walker, who returns to the Globe following All's Well That Ends Well at 2024. The creative team includes composer Angus MacRae, designer Sami Fendall, costume supervisor Jackie Orton, fight director Kev McCurdy, and intimacy director Lucy Fennell.
Much Ado About Nothing will play at Shakespeare's Globe, as part of its 2026 summer season, from 11 June to 24 October.
