Hit Broadway musical Kinky Boots looks for a London home

Kinky Boots London There were reports a few months back that the multi Tony Award-winning new musical Kinky Boots would be making the long journey over the Atlantic to London’s West End.

The latest news is that the planned transfer of the show with music by Cyndi Lauper is delayed, but still going ahead. The hold-up seems to be down to finding a West End venue to house the production, as every theatre is currently hosting all manner of musical, plays, dance and opera. The producers of the hit Broadway musical will be banking on a production closing in London’s theatreland, paving the way for Kinky Boots, bringing the British made story back home.

Bend it like Beckham musical becomes a reality

Bend it like Beckham Rumours have been circulating for years about the possibility of a stage musical adaptation of the cult British film Bend it Like Beckham. The wait is now over, as it has been confirmed that the new musical will open at the Phoenix Theatre in May 2015.

Bend it Like Beckham was a 2002 British comedy-drama film directed by Gurinder Chadha and stared Keira Knightly, Parminder Nagra, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Anupam Kher and Archie Panjabi. The film was a massive box office success, not only in the UK, but also around the world.

New play Taken at Midnight transfers to the West End

Taken at Midnight Mark Hayhurst’s new play, Taken at Midnight premiered at the Chichester Festival Theatre in September. It has now been announced that the play will transfer to the Theatre Royal Haymarket in the heart of London’s West End from 15 January 2015, following the National Theatre's production of Great Britain.

The Railway Children steams back into London

The Railway Children The Olivier award-winning stage version of E. Nesbit’s 1906 classic book The Railway Children will return to London this winter after wowing audiences at Waterloo station back in 2011.

The production will open at a brand new purpose built theatre situated behind Kings Cross station on 16 December 2014 and is produced by the National Railway Museum and York Theatre Royal.

Full Casting announced for Urinetown at the Apollo Theatre

Urinetown Jonathan Slinger and Jenna Russell will reprise their roles in the West End transfer of Urinetown. Jamie Lloyd’s critically acclaimed production premiered at the St James Theatre earlier this year. However, the show's leading man, Richard Fleeshman, will not be returning to the role of Bobby.
