Full casting has been announced for Benedict Andrews’ production of Tennessee Williams’ steamy American drama Cat on a Hot Tin Roof which opens at Opening at the Apollo Theatre in July.
The central characters are a young married couple whose relationship is under considerable strain due to his latent homosexuality and the alcoholism which he develops whilst trying to hide it.

When a little girl you have known since she was five is cast as Matilda you go along to one of her first performances with an open mind and ready to be entertained. I was not disappointed!
The new cast of children (one of four teams alternating performances) are superb and deserve the standing ovation they received. Emma Moore is one of four children cast as Matilda and her confidence and stage presence is extraordinary from one so young. Emma captivates the audience, just as Matilda enthrals the character of Mrs Phelps, the librarian, who she entertains with stories.

Based on Fellini’s 1954 film, La Strada is a terrific ensemble piece devised by the company under Sally Cookson’s direction with “writer in the room” Mike Akers. The show follows faithfully the story of Fellini’s film but more importantly it stays true to the fairy tale spirit of the original.

F Murray Abraham is heading to the West End and I can’t wait to see him perform live again.
He was virtually unknown to the wider public when he was cast as the lead in a Hollywood film of Peter Shaffer’s hit stage play Amadeus, which some of you may have seen revived recently at the National Theatre. With that title you’d be forgiven for thinking the big part would be composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and indeed the story does centre around the genius’s struggle to win respect, wealth and recognition during his life time.
