About Glengarry Glen Ross
David Mamet’s 20th play follows two days in the lives of four real estate agents at a firm in Chicago, who are given an ultimatum: bring in more sales, or get fired. Desperate, they find themselves engaging in unethical, illegal acts, from lies to bribery to threats and even burglary, to sell real estate to unwitting buyers.
Glengarry Glen Ross had its world premiere at the National Theatre in 1983, and was adapted into a film in 1992, starring Ali Pacino, Alec Baldwin, Kevin Spacey, and Ed Harris. It received the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1984.
Written during the height of the Thatcher and Reagan eras, the play's unflinching look at the realities of free-market capitalism feels just as relevant today as it did in 1983.
The revival
This major new revival will be directed by Tony Award winner Patrick Marber (The Producers, Leopoldstadt), in his directorial debut at the Old Vic. He last revived Glengarry Glen Ross on Broadway in 2025. The revival will feature an all-female cast for the very first time, with casting still to be announced.
Matthew Warchus, Artistic Director of the Old Vic said, "I'm excited to see Patrick Marber bring fresh immediacy to this breathlessly gripping play, with an all-female cast revealing new resonances for audiences."
Marber said, "It’s a heck of a play to work on; hilarious, profound, obscene - a thrilling story with twists that make an audience gasp."
When and where will it run?
Glengarry Glen Ross will be staged at the Old Vic, in The Round, forming an intimate seating configuration that surrounds the stage. It will run from 4 June to 18 July 2026, with a press performance on 17 June.
