The Eighties are back. Or at least a fine example of the eighties blockbuster musical.
Throughout that decade the producer Cameron Macintosh dominated the West End and Broadway with a series of phenomenally successful shows including Les Mis, which is still very much with us on stage and DVD and Miss Saigon which ran for many years at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane. It’s been dusted down and spruced up in a touring production which now arrives at the producers own theatre, the Prince Edward.

Noel Coward's bitter sweet comedy about a husband and new bride haunted by his dead ex wife, thanks to a dotty old medium, is regularly revived. The considerable attraction this time is the chance to see living legend, Angel Landsbury in the star part.


The Buzz about new West End musical, MADE IN DAGENHAM

It’s great to hear the musical based on the film MADE IN DAGENHAM is going ahead. It opens at the Adelphi Theatre in November starring Gemma Arterton as a trade union leader and is directed by Rupert Gould.
I’ve been excited to see it since I heard gossip about the workshop from people who were there.

Most awards are controversial especially in the film industry where the shenanigans over how producers manipulate the nominations lists are well known but up to now theatre award have seemed relatively sedate. Until this year.
