Heading to the magical outdoor setting of Regent's Park Open Air Theatre, and not seen in London for over 35 years, we chat with Chrissy Brooke, who stars in the new major revival of Brigadoon.

For those who aren’t familiar with the show, can you tell us what Brigadoon is about?
The show is about 2 pilots from the war who find sanctuary in the highlands of Scotland. It's about love in all of its forms. The story is heartwarmingly joyous and sweet, and also heart-achingly tragic all in one. The show makes me cry in a different place every day for joy and sadness.
You are part of the ensemble. What is your favourite part about this role?
I love being a part of the ensemble in this show because at the heart of Brigadoon it is all about community, and we have really created that within the company. I love dancing with my cast mates and catching eyes and feeling that connection with them as we move and tell the story together - it's magic!
This is the first time the show has been in London for over 35 years. What can audiences expect from this new production at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre?
It feels very exciting that this production hasn’t been done in over 35 years in London. We have shifted a lot and have had so many incredible conversations about how we honour the piece but make it appropriate for where we are now in the world too. It feels very fresh and relatable. I think people are going to fall in love with Brigadoon and wonder why they hadn’t heard about it sooner. I feel like that. I had never heard of it and I’m in love. What Drew and Rona and the team have done with it is truly incredible.
Brigadoon is known for its incredible score, but it has an unforgettable storyline too. Are there any themes within the show that are also covered which you think are particularly poignant?
The theme of war of love-unrequited love - some people having and some people not - of loving fiercely. There is so much, and the music and what they have done with the score in this version will just move you to tears.
Talking of the songs - do you have a favourite in the show and why?
I REALLY LOVE ALL THE SONGS! I mean, hearing the bagpipes makes my heart absolutely burst into 1000 pieces. But the big ensemble number ‘MacConnachy Square’ was the one that really made me sob like a baby in the Sitzprobe - it’s really not sad whatsoever but that sound of community, the fullness of the orchestra and the heart of all our cast members just absolutely got me!
What are you most excited for audiences to experience when they come to see Brigadoon?
I just think visually this is going to be so stunning in the park - the set is like something out of a fairytale - I’m excited to see it myself!
Finally, why should people book their tickets?
BOOK YOUR TICKETS because this may be the most stunning production ever. Drew’s choreography and direction is BEAUTIFUL. It is funny, witty, current and nostalgic and you will be taken on the most magical journey I promise!
Brigadoon plays at Regent's Park Open Air Theatre from 2 August to 20 September 2025.
