Full cast announced for West End premiere of The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry

The West End debut, planned at the Theatre Royal Haymarket from January, is a joyous new musical adapted by Rachel Joyce from her multi-million selling novel.

The Unlikely Pilgrimage is directed by Katy Rudd (Ballet Shoes, National Theatre) and features a score by the chart-topping indie musician, Passenger.

Already announced for the production are Mark Addy and Jenna Russell, who will reprise their roles as Harold and Maureen Fry from the show's critically acclaimed debut at the Chichester Festival Theatre earlier this year. Noah Mullins (Hadestown) joins then as The Balladeer, making his West End debut in the production.

Completing the cast is Craig Armstrong (Rich and Ensemble), Jenna Boyd (Sister Philomena, Farmer’s Wife, Rita and Ensemble), Daniel Crossley (Silver Haired Gentleman, Napier and Ensemble), Nell Martin (Young Maureen, Deliveroo and Ensemble), Nicole Nyarambi (Garage Girl and Ensemble), Peter Polycarpou (Rex, Locum and Ensemble), Gleanne Purcell-Brown (Kate, Betsy, Kind Customer and Ensemble), Ashley Samuels (Wilf, Jim and Ensemble), Maggie Service (Queenie Hennessey, Fairy Assistant, Gorilla and Ensemble), Madeleine Worrall (Martina and Ensemble), Timo Tatzber (Dog, Young Harold, Ensemble and Puppet Captain), with Gemma Atkins (Swing), Olivia Foster -Browne (Swing), Ediz Mahmut (Swing), Edwin Ray (Swing, Trainer Man and Dance Captain).

The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry tells a moving story of a recently retired man who receives a letter from an old friend and heads out to post his reply, but keeps walking. From South Devon to Berwick upon Tweed, Harold Fry reflects on his past, reconnects with life, and discovers the healing power of hope and redemption.

The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry will play at Theatre Royal Haymarket from 29 January to 18 April 2026.
