Alfie and Julie are a couple who've lived a long, rich, and happy life together - one filled with laughter, music, and ups and downs. But now, on one early morning in June, their life together is coming to an end. End is the final play in David Eldridge's powerful trilogy exploring love and relationships: it started with Beginning, which follows a couple on the edge of forty who meet for the first time, and continued with Middle, about a couple in their forties facing a turning point in their relationship. Now Eldridge gives us End, the culmination of this meditation on the nature of relationships and the different kinds of loneliness, with a couple in their sixties facing the end of the road.

Inspired by Eldridge's own life and experiences, the trilogy has touched the hearts of audiences all over, particularly those navigating the hurdles of falling in and out of love. Directed by Lyric Hammersmith Theatre Artistic Director Rachel O'Riordan (Romeo and Julie) and starring Clive Owen (Closer) as Alfie and Saskia Reeves (Slow Horses) as Julie, this is a poignant, tragic story about a life well loved and what happens when we reach the end. Filled with music, humour, and heart, this is a powerful conclusion to a carefully crafted trilogy by one of the most prominent playwriting voices of a generation.
