About Heathers The Musical Tickets
Heathers The Musical description
Heathers The Musical – A brilliantly bitchy rock musical!
The original movie 'Heathers' was a huge hit in 1988, fast becoming a cult film. The stage adaptation made a splash in Los Angeles, USA, before going Off-Broadway during 2014. It scored a massive hit in the UK, first at The Other Palace then at the Theatre Royal Haymarket. Now, post-lockdown, it's back to delight us, and there's also a touring production on the cards.
The show is written by Laurence O’Keefe and Kevin Murphy and directed by Andy Fickman, together with the Associate Director Gary Lloyd who also handles the choreography. The design is by David Shields, the Lighting by Ben Cracknell and the Sound by Dan Samson. Don't miss this outrageous feast of high school fun!
What's the plot of Heathers The Musical?
Heathers: The Musical is a super-cool, wickedly adult rock musical. The plot whisks us to Westerberg High, the senior school where Veronica Sawyer is just one of hundreds of ordinary girls who nobody notices. When she's taken under the wing of the school's three most popular girls, each called Heather, her life takes a very different turn.
The Heathers are gorgeous, sophisticated and fun. But they're also cruel and bitchy. When Veronica's dreams of high-octane school popularity stardom start to come true, things get really interesting. When the gorgeous mystery man, JD, arrives at the school, Veronica falls head over heels in love. But the road to happiness is a rocky one and she eventually realises that while it's awful being a nobody, being a somebody can end up being a whole lot worse.
Who is Heathers The Musical for?
Heathers The Musical isn't for kids, it's full of thrilling grown-up themes like teen bullying, sexual assault, rape, murder, suicide and politics, so leave your little ones at home! It's perfect if you're 16 or older.

I have now been twice and am hoping to go again. The cast is incredible and so lovely, the music is absolutely amazing. The seats are great you can see from every angle so not really a bad seat in the theatre. Veronica is absolutely fantastic and has an incredible voice and the play musical is hilarious! Thank you!!

Great cast and crew that have their characters nailed and are very capable of banging home the poignant moments whilst keeping the dark humour there. Tears of sadness and joy throughout. A must see version of the show.

Even though I’d somehow missed the film in the 90s and didn’t know what to expect, I was blown away by the performance. We laughed all the way through and chair danced at times. My daughter who is a mature 12 really wanted to go and she loved it, but I wouldn’t bring anyone younger or who is not in at least yr 8 of secondary. The whole cast were amazing. Thank you!!!

If you have lived through the late 80s, then this really does take you back. If you are younger, this show will give you a very realistic feel of how things were back then for teenagers and young adults. I thoroughly recommend to this show. Glad though, the age recommendation is a 14+.

Personally I found Heathers quite disturbing. Whilst I understand it is set in the 90s, it portrayed an outdated and unwanted view of homosexuality, glamourised bullying, attempted to justify murder and contained scenes of young people hanging them selves. I was uncomfortable watching it, perhaps that was the point, and had it been done in such a way that was thought provoking I could understand my life uncomfortable feelings however it was done to a soundtrack of some high pitch screeching songs by ‘the Heathers’ and lacked the normal connectable tragedy and joy bought to life by big numbers of most musicals. Not for me and perhaps more suited to a teenage audience although with a big mental health warning.

Heathers was a half term treat for my daughter who knows the story word for word. She was super excited and you did not disappoint her! I only knew the story on the basest level but the performance we saw was thought provoking, entertaining and attention grabbing. The story was easy to follow - even for a novice like me - and the attention to detail in costume, set, words and music made for a sensational experience.
