Why should you watch Horrible Histories: Barmy Britain - The Best Bits?

  • This zany, tongue-in-cheek musical will be a treat for children of all ages, as well as adults who grew up with the show. Its outrageous style of comedy will leave you in stitches, and its zany songs will remain stuck in your head for days after.

What is Horrible Histories: Barmy Britain - The Best Bits about?

Horrible Histories was a British children’s live-action historical and musical television series, based on the bestselling books of the same name by Terry Deary. It tackled everything from world wars to deposed monarchs to invading hordes - all with its characteristic style of humour. Like the series that inspired it, the stage show will bring to life all the foul, absurd, and shocking bits of British history and cycle through the best bits of previous shows in a spectacle of song, dance and sketches that'll entertain and educate the whole family.

Horrible Histories stage creator Neal Foster stars alongside regular company member Alison Fitzjohn in this rollicking, wacky rollercoaster ride through history, featuring some of Britain’s bizarrest icons. It’s history like you’ve never seen it before, with all the nasty bits and foul facts they never taught you at school. So grab your tickets and prepare to laugh, gasp, and groan at this foul and funny stage show, opening at the Apollo Theatre this summer.

Fun for kids and adults

This is a show aimed at children but with Easter eggs for the slightly older audience (parents/adults old enough to remember the Fast Show and Postman Pat). I think I enjoyed the show more than my 9 and 7 year old kids.
