Joanna Woodward triumphs as the latest star of BEAUTIFUL
By Phil Willmott Thursday, September 17 2015, 14:00
I’ve seen the jukebox, biographical musical BEAUTIFUL, about the life and music of Carole King before, both in New York and at London’s Aldwych Theatre and always quite enjoyed it.
Kings essential “niceness” shines through the gentle but uplifting story of her journey from hopeful teen hoping to sell her songs, through the ups and downs, friendships and collaborations of her time writing hits for other people, to starring in her own right at Carnegie Hall after the massive success of her solo album TAPESTRY.

HAND TO GOD is transferring from Broadway
By Phil Willmott Tuesday, September 15 2015, 12:26
The Brilliant HAND TO GOD is transferring from Broadway but will it be as good with an all new British cast? I’m really excited that the Broadway hit HAND TO GOD will be transferring across the pond to the Vaudeville Theatre from 5 February 2016.
Ever since I gave it a 4 star review in New York I’ve been raving about it and it’s great news that Londoners will be able to see why.

Let What It's All About get Close To You!
By Phil Willmott Wednesday, September 9 2015, 22:33
The Burt Bacharach compilation show, WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT, is heading to the West End after its successful run, Off West End. It has a new name, CLOSE TO YOU and is about to move to the Criterion Theatre on Piccadilly Circus.
The show's popularity should come as no surprise to anyone. When it was first conceived at New York Theatre Workshop it became the longest running show in the prestigious venues history and we love the work of this amazing song writer just as much in the UK.

Hello to Goodnight Mr Tom?
By Phil Willmott Tuesday, September 8 2015, 14:00
If the rumours are true, the West End, increasingly dominated by productions aimed at families, will soon have yet another heart warming show suitable for all ages.
A dramatisation of the war time weepy, GOODNIGHT MR TOM may well be coming to the Duke of Yorks Theatre.

This Autumn at The Almeida Theatre
By Phil Willmott Monday, September 7 2015, 09:13
London's swankiest Off-West End Theatre, The Almeida, in Islington, North London, has just announced two very exciting productions for this autumn.
They're following their acclaimed Ancient Greek season with new versions of late nineteenth-century masterpieces by two of history's most important and influential playwrights, Henrik Ibsen and Anton Chekhov.
