CORRESPONDENCE, a piece of new writing which premiers at The Old Red Lion, strives to be a political work, tackling issues such as the Arab Spring and mental health, however Lucinda Burnett’s play seems more like a badly written episode of TV's Hollyoaks.

Review: FIDDLER ON THE ROOF at the Broadway Theatre, New York City
By Davor Golub Friday, March 18 2016, 11:24
FIDDLER ON THE ROOF is one of the best-loved and well-known musicals of the last fifty years. At the recent performance I attended I could hear audience members singing lyrics softly under their breath and anticipating the many classic laugh lines. Revived more times in New York City than any other musical this makes it a particular challenge for the production team of each revival to find a fresh take on the show. When it was announced that Bartlett Sher, director of the revelatory Lincoln Centre SOUTH PACIFIC revival, was helming a new production I was very excited. Well, Sher and his team have not disappointed.

Review: THE PAINKILLER at the Garrick Theatre
By Phil Willmott Friday, March 18 2016, 09:41
Kenneth Branagh is certainly giving us a range of productions as part of his year long residency at the Garrick Theatre. We've had Shakespeare, Rattigan, new writing and now a farce.
How good a time you'll have at this latest offering, THE PAINKILLER, will depend on your sense of humour.

Review: MISS ATOMIC BOMB at St James Theatre
By Phil Willmott Thursday, March 17 2016, 15:32
Miss Atomic Bomb is glamorous, funny and thoroughly wicked. Ignore the doom merchants, of which there have been plenty. The night after the press night, which I couldn't make and seems to have gone badly, the show was firing on all cylinders.

Review: AKHNATEN at English National Opera
By Kit Benjamin Monday, March 14 2016, 10:34
Akhnaten is the third opera in Philip Glass’s “Portrait Trilogy” which consists of three operas describing in more or less abstract terms the lives of individuals whose thinking could be said to have changed the world, the other two pieces being Einstein On The Beach (1975) and Satyagraha (about Ghandi, 1979).
