Did you love the 1980 movie 9-5, shoulder pads and all? Wasn't it wonderful! Now it's back, on the West End stage for the first time, and the anticipation is mounting fast.
Everyone loves Dolly Parton, a talented lady with a big, generous heart. Her music has made millions of us happy: Jolene, Here You Come Again, Stand By Your Man... magical. And this superb musical is going to make friends and influence millions of us all over again. It's on for a strictly limited West End season. You'll find it at the magnificent Savoy Theatre. It stars the brilliant Louise Redknapp, Amber Davies, Natalie McQueen and Brian Conley. And they haven't messed with the glittering 1980 score, a classic blend of Dolly hits that was Oscar, Grammy and Tony award-nominated, to which a few new tunes have been added.
What's the story?
Born in 2008, 9 to 5 The Musical weaves the tale of the disillusioned office workers Doralee, Violet and Judy. They hate their super-sexist bullying fool of a boss, and they're not afraid to show it. When, one day, he pushes too far and pushes them over the edge, they retaliate by tying him up and taking over. So far so good, until the CEO pays a surprise visit – will all their hard work unravel? When one of the women panics, thinking she's actually killed their boss, does everything collapse?
Presented by Dolly herself and inspired by the cult film, this is a glittering, heart warming, fun-fuelled and totally, wonderfully uproarious West End show that takes on The Man... and wins hands down.
If you're searching for a satire starring three rebellious women against the world, this is it. If you love a musical where you recognise every song and love them all, this is it. If you have ever enjoyed drug-induced fantasies of killing the slave-driving chauvinist that runs your workplace, it'll feel eerily familiar. Only joking!

A little bit naughty. A very upbeat performance.
I loved Dolly Parton’s contributions via digital medium. That provided a humorous link to the original movie. Go and have a good laugh.

The show is a must to see, so surprisingly funny, acting was top drawer, Brian Conerly has lost his touch he was hilarious. Bonnie Langfords dance and moves were like watching a teenager. The actress who played Dolly was superego it was like watching Dollynherself. Just the sounds were a bit distorted whilst they were singing some of the solos. Dress circle is a great area to sit.

Great show, theatre needs updating
We had front row dress circle seats for this great show. The show was very funny, well acted and well worth seeing. The theatre is in need of updating, the seats very cramped and uncomfortable with no leg room. Our seats on the front row had a great view of the stage, but nowhere to put your bag/drink/jacket. The bars are small. The staff are very nice and the service great, shame about the venue.

Brilliant show, great actors and really funny, totally unexpected.

The show was slow to begin. Brian Connolly and Bonnie Langford played their characters brilliantly and stole the show. Overall a lacklustre production. Unfortunately our night at the theatre was marred somewhat by the frequent coming and going of people during the performance and we felt there was an inordinate amount of alcohol being brought into the theatre in bottles which made the experience disappointing. These are not the standards I have come to expect from a West End show but more of a down market cinema.
Sandra London Box Office customer
It was brilliant
Only thing was the theatre was small and you would better off in the middle dit’s our seats were just okay we only missed the right side of the stage at the back
Amanda London Box Office customer
A must see for sure!
You don’t have to have seen the film before to enjoy this musical. Unexpectedly hilarious and a great evening out for all.

Well worth a watch
The whole cast was good but for me it was as Brian Conley and Bonnie Langford that stole the show. The music was good and we came away feeling we’d had a really enjoyable evening.
