Billy Elliot, the touching story of a young boy’s dream come true.

There’s an amazing tale behind this ever-popular stage play. Singer songwriter Elton John saw the first public screening of Billy Elliot at Cannes, and was so moved he immediately contacted director Stephen Daldry about making it into a stage musical. Since then the stage production has won three prestigious Laurence Olivier Awards: best new musical, best actor in a musical and best lighting design, plus an impressive ten Tony Awards.

Billy Elliot the movie, released in 2000, captured the hearts of millions of people worldwide and was nominated for three Oscars and thirteen Bafta awards, breaking numerous box office records. This superb stage production is written by Lee Hall, directed by Stephen Daldry and choreographed by Peter Darling, all of whom were involved with the original movie. Expect the same heart-rending plot enhanced by a beautiful musical score with lyrics by Lee Hall and music written by Sir Elton John. himself.

Billy Elliot – The story

Billy Elliot the Musical is the touching story of a boy growing up in working class Manchester during the miner's strike in the grim, gritty mid-1980s. Enrolled in boxing classes, which he doesn’t enjoy, Billy soon finds something he much prefers: a ballet class. It turns out that young Billy has a unique talent for ballet, so much so that it could make him a star. But to achieve his dream he has to overcome financial hardship, win the heart of his no-nonsense home town and be accepted into the prestigious Royal Ballet School. The dance scenes are choreographed beautifully, the songs drive the story along and you’ll find yourself hanging on to the edge of your seat as the drama unfolds… with a happy ending that’ll see you cheering your heart out.

Billy Elliot song list

Elton John’s genuine passion for the Billy Elliot story shines through the stage show’s score with poignant songs like The Stars Look Down, Shine, Grandma's Song, Solidarity and Expressing Yourself. You’ll laugh and cry in equal measure, accompanied by tunes like The Letter, Born to Boogie, Angry Dance and the iconic Merry Christmas, Maggie Thatcher. Audiences adore Deep Into the Ground, Swan Lake, He Could Be a Star and Electricity. And the finale, including Once We Were Kings and The Letter – Reprise, makes for an unforgettable end to a veritable feast of music and dance.

A wide choice of Billy Elliot theatre tickets

The uplifting, feel-good tale of Billy Elliot is perfect for the family but the authentic and often colourful language used makes it unsuitable for small children. Older children will be inspired by Billy’s story, as are adults of every age. We offer a great choice of Billy Elliot tickets, all with good availability and a variety of seating types. You can even choose your seats before confirming your booking!

Very good

London Box Office customer

The best show ever seen including Broadway showsWe

We love live theatre and have been to quite a few shows. We saw this show when it first came onto the stage, but it has greatly improved over time. More dancing and singing. The cast were very good and gave the young man who played (Billy Elliot) the support needed for the roll. We would recommend that people go and see for themselves. The staff were very helpful and the theatre had lots of atmosphere. An excellent show.

A Fantasic Show

This is a must see show whilst you're in London. The acting was superb, I really got the feel of the tough times the miners had, I had tears in my eyes! The children were full of character and so talented, Billy was amazing.

2nd time around

I see the show many years ago and said it was the best show ever and seeing it for the 2nd time didn't disappoint. A great time didn't want it to end. The dancing is phenomenal and it left me speechless. I cannot find any faults with this spectacular show.

London Box Office customer

Amazing, must see before it closes

The show was fantastic just love the story third time seeing it and it still grips me all the way through!! The music is great and the singing is superb! I just marvel at those little children who can act/dance/sing like that! I urge you to see it before it closes, as it's something you shouldn't miss out on!

London Box Office customer

Superb music, dancing and acting!

London Box Office customer

Pleasant show with several disappointments

The story and acting were quite good, especially the comedic timing. However, I'd have expected more frequent and more solid ballet dancing throughout a musical having ballet as a central theme. Billy himself was quite impressive, but all other dancing was underwhelming. Voices were tired or else horribly damaged, with some extreme straining and flatting throughout. The vocal issues made me uneasy and took enjoyment out of some of the performance. The music itself was also quite forgettable, unfortunately—I remember not a single tune.

London Box Office customer

emotinal ..touching.brilliant

this show was superb .it touched my heart and every emotion.done with such thiught.the only thing i would say is that the seats are very squashed and i would suggest maybe a box if you need more space.but totally fautless production.even when a slight hitch happened it was dealt with very professionally and quickly.i applaud all staff and actors and production team.

London Box Office customer

An absolute delight from start to finish.

A real feel-good show full of great characters and fantastic actors. The dancing is breath-taking. I laughed, cried and didn't want it to end. A thoroughly good night out.

London Box Office customer

Poor condition and lots of dust in the air! Not recommended!

The play was good and actors fantastic! The big problem was the amount of dust in the air that was just flying around!! Incredible I will not go again and not recommend to anyone. Too much dust just too much. Regards. Laurentiu

London Box Office customer

fantastic

As a first time theatre goer I didn't know what to expect what I saw and heard thrilled me a must see I lived through the time when this was going on and it was very emotional and the show depicted it spot on history Brought to livid light go see it.

London Box Office customer

Outstanding

I took my 11 year old daughter to see the show. My daughter was blown away as was I. My daughter has decided that she would like a career in the theatre. Book now you will not be disappointed

London Box Office customer

Fantastic. Ticked all the boxes!

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the show and have been raving about it at home. The dancing, story line , acting and singing were excellent. Took us through a whole range of emotions. Loved it.

London Box Office customer

powerful show

Excellent show, seen 4 times in all, although many families present, need to be aware swearing is a major part of the show, also as set in the 1980's-younger audiences may not be aware of Maggie Thatcher etc.

London Box Office customer

loved it

London Box Office customer

Outstanding on all fronts

An absolutely brilliant show! Great cast/story/setting. Only one moan...the music was SO LOUD.

London Box Office customer

London Box Office customer

Good kids acting and dancing !

A great musical ,,, But !! Too much swearing in the whole show through ,, Too much and often F,, word , Bloody- word ,, to listen and watching these swearing rough language with kids audience feel uncomfortable and feel needed to apologise to the children presenting at the musical !! It's understandable that it's a part of the real life in miners time but still Tooo much swearing is not should be acceprable in public show with kids attendance ! Even sorry for kids who take part in the musical is not good to hear these rough language so many times !,, :((

London Box Office customer

Fun, energetic and colorful, Billy Elliot is an amazing show !

London Box Office customer

laugh, cry.... WOW!

Dramatic and powerful performances, but this paled in compare to the incredible dancing from such a young cast!! Not for very young children though as the language was a bit blue from the miners. I felt that it was justified for the Nth Est miners but not a show I would take my daughter too. Mrs loved it!!

London Box Office customer

Fantastic

This is a really excellent show. A little bad language but all in context. The dancing is fabulous and the cast really good. A very enjoyable evening.

London Box Office customer

A must see

London Box Office customer

Fantastic, our first ever musical

London Box Office customer

Not for young children

London Box Office customer

Funny

London Box Office customer

Brilliant

London Box Office customer

Not for families

Too much swearing for younger viewers. I took a pair of teenagers who thought that I had gone mad taking them to watch adults and children shouting obscenities at each other. At first they found it funny and then as luck would have it they found it just as distasteful as I did. Shame as the cast was very talented.

London Box Office customer

An excellent show.

Great show. Not sure for young children as a lot of swearing. But understandable for the time of the miners struggles.

London Box Office customer

Creative, sad and full of laughs!

London Box Office customer

See it while you can

London Box Office customer

Amazing!

Just fantastic. Emotional and very true to the film. Would highly recommend.

Such Talented Youngsters

Booked this show with my family and everyone loved it, even my husband who was the most sceptical. The story was very touching and the children actors were exceptionally talented. Well done to all the actors who made our night very special.

London Box Office customer

Incredible feel-good show with wonderfully talented dancers!

London Box Office customer

Amazing afternoon

Loved the show only if the best ways to spend a afternoon when in London

London Box Office customer

Not for kids bad language

Fantastic show, but a little over the top on bad language. Not for families with young kids.

London Box Office customer

Must see!

Fantastic show. One of the best! Excellent dancing by Billy. Funny and very entertaining. Great story line to keep you interested . Some swearing, so avoid taking young children.

London Box Office customer

great entertainment

great from stat to finish the young lead dancer was fantastic

London Box Office customer

Simply magnificent!

London Box Office customer

Excellent performance shame about the visible stage crew

The cast were amazing. I wouldn't recommend for anyone under 16 as the language used was quite extreme and I saw a few parents around me looking shocked as they had their young children there. The only downside was the fact we could see from the dress circle the backstage crew chatting behind the moveable scenery which did spoil the atmosphere slightly.

London Box Office customer

A Must See!

London Box Office customer

The greatest show of all time

The show itself was amazing. Words can not describe how good the young actor who plays Billy is. Truly amazing.

London Box Office customer

fantastic entertainment

Maybe young families should be aware that there is a lot of swearing if they have young children. However the story was fantastic and the talent throughout, top quality.

London Box Office customer

Amazing

London Box Office customer

Fab show !! Easy to find easy to access , great lighting , dancing and other effects !! Stage settings were cleverly done !! Very impressed and I as an adult found the swearing during performance very entertaining, Thankyou

London Box Office customer

Amazing show, a must see!

London Box Office customer

Must see

Must see brilliant show not recommended for young ages as a lot of swearing

London Box Office customer

Brilliantly exciting and entertaining

London Box Office customer

Fantastic production of the movie!!

London Box Office customer

Great show

Fantastic acting by all but especially Billy.

London Box Office customer

Surprising!

Thought the show had a very slow start with the dialogue difficult to hear and understand (and I'm from the North East!) but the second half was excellent and thoroughly enjoyable. The young boy who played Michael was amazing and very amusing. I would recommend visiting the show but not, perhaps, for youngsters as the colourful language is continuous.

London Box Office customer

Amazing

I thought a great deal of effort had been taken by all involved you could see the comitment given and the professional approach of the actors.

London Box Office customer

Wow

London Box Office customer

U. Granddaughter went with friend loved every minute

If you lived through the power cuts , during the miners strike you will truly relate to this show. I had to stop myself from shouting Out ,Out. Out,. It was a fab. story, funny in places , singing & dancing great, ,it showed the passion and ambition of a child and the Love of a father at all costs to help him fulfill his dream. Fantastic Evening , Well Worth A See , Cant wait to see again
