Cameron Mackintosh reveals extension periods for West End productions to 2026

Today, four of the biggest West End musicals have announced extensions to their booking periods into 2026, giving audiences more opportunities to experience these timeless productions.

Les Misérables at the Sondheim Theatre, The Phantom of the Opera at His Majesty's Theatre, Hamilton at the Victoria Palace Theatre and Oliver! at the Gielgud Theatre, are all extending their runs to October 2026.

In a statement, Cameron Mackintosh said: “These four great classic musicals have all enjoyed a record-breaking year at the box-office so we are delighted to announce that the public can now make plans to book tickets right through till October 2026 – London is the only place in the UK you will be able to see these unforgettable shows next year.”

Boublil and Schönberg’s Les Misérables celebrates its 40th anniversary on 8 October 2025. The longest-running musical features a new principal cast as part of celebrating this milestone. The new cast, which will play at the Sondheim Theatre until 1 November, features Killian Donnelly as Jean Valjean, Bradley Jean as Javert, Katie Hall as Fantine, Jac Yarrow as Marius, Shan Ako as Éponine, Jordan Shaw as Enjolras, Beatrice Penny-Touré as Cosette, Adam Gillen as Thénardier and Marina Prior as Madame Thénardier. Ian McIntosh will play Jean Valjean at certain performances.

Les Misérables has extended its performances to 3 October 2026.

Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera continues its run at His Majesty's Theatre, where it will celebrate its 40th anniversary next year. The current cast includes Dean Chisnall as The Phantom, Lily Kerhoas as Christine Daaé, Joanna Ampil as Carlotta Giudicelli, Adam Linstead as Monsieur André, Martin Ball as Monsieur Firmin, Helen Hobson as Madame Giry and Millie Lyon as Meg Giry. At certain performances, the role of Christine Daaé will be played by Colleen Rose Curran. They were recently joined by Adam Rhys-Charles (From Here to Eternity) as Raoul and Bradyn Debysingh (My Fair Lady) as Ubaldo Piangi.

The Phantom of the Opera extends its performances through to 3 October 2026.

Now heading towards its eighth year, Lin-Manuel Miranda's Hamilton continues to deliver its groundbreaking story on Alexander Hamilton's rise from an orphaned immigrant to a key figure in shaping the United States. The production recently changed its West End cast which now includes stars Alex Sawyer (Girl From The North Country) as Alexander Hamilton, Jay Perry (Back to the Future) as Aaron Burr, Bente Mulan (Disney’s Frozen) as Eliza Hamilton, Emily-Mae (The Bodyguard) as Angelica Schuyler, Jasmine Jia Yung Shen (Six The Musical) as Peggy Schuyler/Maria Reynolds, Jonathan Andrew Hume (Shucked) as George Washington, Yeukayi Ushe (The Lion King) as Marquis De Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson, Jordan Castle (Guys & Dolls) as Hercules Mulligan/James Madison, Jordan Benjamin (The Little Big Things) as John Laurens/Philip Hamilton and Daniel Boys (Avenue Q) as King George III. At certain performances, the role of Alexander Hamilton will be played by Adam J. Bernard (The Drifters’ Girl).

Hamilton extends its performances at the Victoria Palace Theatre to 30 October 2026.

Cameron Mackintosh and Matthew Bourne's new production of Lionel Bart's iconic musical Oliver! continues to delight audiences of all ages. Adapted from Charles Dickens' classic novel, the cast of Oliver! includes Simon Lipkin (Guys and Dolls) as Fagin, Aaron Sidwell (Wicked) as Bill Sikes, Billy Jenkins (Les Misérables) as the Artful Dodger, Oscar Conlon-Morrey (Only Fools and Horses The Musical) as Mr. Bumble, Katy Secombe (The Music Man as Widow Corney, Stephen Matthews (Chitty Chitty Bang Bang) as Mr. Sowerberry/Dr. Grimwig, Jamie Birkett (Mamma Mia The Party) as Mrs. Sowerberry/Mrs. Bedwin, Philip Franks (The Rocky Horror Show) as Mr. Brownlow, and Billy Byers as Alternate Artful Dodger. Ava Brennan (Hamilton) recently took over the role of Nancy from Shanay Holmes, who originated the role in this new production and left the show recently.

Oliver! now extends performances at the Gielgud Theatre to Sunday 4 October 2026.
