A new month is just around the corner, bringing with it a fresh wave of shows opening on stages across the heart of London this February.

Although it’s the shortest month of the year, London theatres are packed with unmissable treats for theatre fans. From Cynthia Erivo’s astonishing feat of taking on 23 roles in one night in a striking new production of Dracula, to the chance to immerse yourself in the bold, thought-provoking world of Broken Glass at the Young Vic, there’s plenty to spark conversation and captivate audiences over the course of February. Here’s the 10 shows you need to look out for!
Bird Grove at Hampstead Theatre

Bird Grove is a typical and topical new play that puts one of England’s greatest writers, Mary Ann Evans, centre stage in a poignant tale of family ties and determination. Written by Alexi Kaye Campbell and set in 1941, Bird Grove will show us how this woman struggles for independence and identity against Victorian expectations, like her father’s hopes to find her a husband. Elizabeth Dulau (Star Wars: Andor) and Owen Teale (Game of Thrones) star in the show at Hampstead Theatre from 13 February.
Broken Glass at Young Vic

Over at the Young Vic is Broken Glass, the Olivier Award-winning play by Arthur Miller, returns to the London stage for the first time since the notable production at the Vaudeville Theatre in 2011. The play, set in 1938, focuses on a couple in New York City during the same time that violent attacks against Jewish communities were underway. Broken Glass explores the consequences of disconnecting from the realities of our world.
Dracula at Noel Coward Theatre

We were left in awe of her performance in the Wicked films, Cynthia Erivo steps back onto the boards of a London stage this February in a new production of Dracula. Erivo made her West End debut back in 2011 in a production of The Umbrellas of Cherbourg and also starred in I Can’t Sing! The X Factor Musical in 2014 at the London Palladium. However, this bold and innovative production of Bram Stoker’s Dracula will see her perform all 23 roles in a tour-de-force one-woman show at the Noel Coward Theatre. We can’t wait for audiences to sink their teeth into this one!

Expect a joyful celebration of gospel and blues music as the show brings the story about these forgotten musical heroines to the spotlight. Performances begin at the @sohoplace on 28 February.

Cynthia Erivo isn’t the only big name gracing the West End this February. Hugh Bonneville returns to the stage to reprise his role as literary icon C. S. Lewis in Shadowlands, a play inspired by Lewis’s own writings on grief and a crisis of faith. The production, which had a successful run at the Chichester Festival Theatre in 2019, explores the writer’s relationship with American poet Joy Davidman.
