The eccentric characters of Avenue Q aren’t the only new residents moving into London theatres this March! The next month has a wealth of new shows opening, including Rebecca Lucy Taylor’s return to the West End in an anniversary production of Teeth ‘n’ Smiles, whilst Johannes Radebe struts into a new production of Kinky Boots at the London Coliseum. With so much to choose from, today’s guide delves into the 15 shows you won’t want to miss!

Les Liaisons Dangereuses

Some fantastic theatre revivals are heading to London this year, and one of those is Christoper Hampton’s Les Liaisons Dangereuses. Lesley Manville and Aidan Turner lead the celebrated adaptation of Choderlos de Laclos’s classic novel at the National Theatre, first published in four volumes in 1782. Les Liaisons Dangereuses is a show that sizzles with seduction, manipulation, and revenge. Directed by Marianne Elliott, expect fierce performances in this production, playing from 21 March.

Kinky Boots

Do you want to experience a high-energy musical that tackles identity and self-acceptance in style? Well, Kinky Boots is about to do all of that, whilst also celebrating the power of being unapologetically yourself. Strictly Come Dancing pro Johannes Radebe leads the fun as the production struts back into the West End after a sold-out UK and Ireland tour last year. The irresistible charm of this musical can be enjoyed from 17 March.
Inter Alia

Oscar and BAFTA-nominated actress Rosamund Pike reprises her “transfixing shape-shifting performance” (The Telegraph) in the National Theatre’s critically acclaimed production of Inter Alia. Written by Suzie Miller, the same writer behind the award-winning production Prima Facie, this play powerfully explores the upheaval in the life of a high-achieving feminist judge when she discovers that her son is accused of rape. Inter Alia heads into the West End for a limited season from 19 March.

She recently appeared in the epic conclusion of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things, and now Sadie Sink steps onto the London stage in another production of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. Noah Jupe stars alongside her in the production that will be directed by Robert Icke, who recently did a fabulous revival of Oedipus that starred Mark Strong and Lesley Manville.
Teeth ‘n’ Smiles

Returning to the West End following her performance in Cabaret, Rebecca Lucy Taylor stars in a landmark 50th anniversary revival production of David Hare’s defiant and rollicking play, Teeth ‘n’ Smiles at the Duke of York’s Theatre from 13 March. It follows a destructive rock band led by Maggie Frisby as their dreams of rebellion diminish.
Yentl

The Australian stage sensation, which has obtained award-winning runs, heads to London this month. Based on Isaac Bashevis Singer’s short story, Yentl follows a young woman who disguises herself as a man to pursue her education as she is forbidden by Orthodox law from studying Jewish scripture. Adapted for the stage by Kadimah Yiddish Theatre, the international premiere will take place at the Marylebone Theatre.
I’m Every Woman: The Chaka Khan Musical

A new musical, based on the award-winning, multi-platinum selling icon Chaka Khan, is set to make its London debut in March at the Peacock Theatre. Alexandra Burke, who has starred in the West End production of Sister Act The Musical, will lead the production. I’m Every Woman: The Chaka Khan Musical features memorable songs like “I Feel For You” and “Tell Me Something Good”.

Experience a Tony Award-winning play at the Lyric Hammersmith with the arrival of Jaja’s African Hair Braiding. Billed as a hilarious and thought provoking new comedy, it became one of the most talked about shows when it made its debut on Broadway in 2023. Avenue Q

Nothing says interesting neighbours like the bunch that will be arriving at the Shaftesbury Theatre from 20 March. In celebration of its 20th anniversary, Avenue Q is back in the West End and we know audiences will be charmed by their mischief and cheeky behaviour. Robert Lopez and Jeffrey Marx's three-time Tony Award-winning musical is one show you won’t want to miss during its limited run this year.
John Proctor is the Villain

Although its sold-out run at the Royal Court Theatre is already sold out, keep your ears low to the ground for tickets to see the UK premiere of John Proctor is the Villain. The seven-time Tony Award-nominated play by Kimberly Belflower presents audiences with a bitingly funny and fresh perspective on Arthur Miller's The Crucible.

Waitress the Musical

After bidding farewell to the West End in 2019, Waitress The Musical makes its return to London as part of a brand-new UK and Ireland tour. Musical theatre superstar Carrie Hope Fletcher leads the production as Jenna in a show that has some of the most memorable songs in the last decade. If you missed out last time, the musical shares a beautiful story about friendship, motherhood, and the power of a well-baked pie.
The Authenticator

If you’re looking for a dose of a gripping psychological thriller - check out The Authenticator at the National Theatre. Playing as part of the theatre’s new season of work this year, award-winning writer Winsome Pinnock is reunited with Miranda Cromwell who directs. The original play show contains a creepy house, buried family secrets, and three unforgettable female characters playing detectives that is bound to keep audiences gripped to their seats.
A Mirrored Monet

Making its premiere at the Charing Cross Theatre, A Mirrored Monet promises to be a dramatic and emotional musical that will be brought to life by music and projections well suited to the intimate theatre space. Award-winning actor Jeff Shankley and Dean John-Wilson will star in the show that kicks off its run on 15 March.
