As the school holidays approach and June draws to a close, we’re wrapping up the month with a round-up of the best news, reviews, and audience favourites.
What a month June has been! We’ve been spoiled with the amount of exciting cast announcements, including the West End favourite, Les Miserables, which is gearing up to celebrate its 40th anniversary in style this Autumn. Whilst shows like Moulin Rouge! The Musical and The Choir Of Man revealed extensions to their runs, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button delivered the news that it would be closing. The musical, which is being revived in London this summer, announced its cast this month. Directed and choreographed by Drew McOnie, Brigadoon will feature a fantastic collective this summer including Danielle Flamanya, Louis Gaunt, Jasmine Jules Andrews and Edward Baruwa. The classic musical by Lerner & Loewe will play at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre from 28 June to 26 July.

Were you one of the ones who missed out on Max Webster’s joyful and flamboyant reimagining of Oscar Wilde’s most celebrated comedy at the National? Well don’t worry because this month The Importance of Being Earnest announced it would be back..and it's heading to the West End this Autumn. Not just that but actor and singer-songwriter Olly Alexander will take on the role of Algernon Moncrieff.

June did bring with it some sad news from the West End and nothing breaks our heart more than hearing the news that one of our favourite musicals is set to close. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, which opened to critical and award acclaim last year, announced that it would be playing its final performance on 11 October. If you haven’t had a chance to see the Olivier Award-winning musical just yet, you don’t have much time left!

We are getting excited for new shows to open in London in the next coming months and nothing has got us more excited than All My Sons. A new production, directed by Ivo Van Hove, will star House of Dragon star Tom Glynn Carney alongside film star Hayley Squires (I, Daniel Blake). They join Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Paapa Essiedu, and Bryan Cranston in the production set to play at Wyndham’s Theatre from 14 November 2025 to 7 March 2026.
New season of shows announced for Shakespeare’s Globe

If you’re a fan of Shakespeare’s Globe, there’s plenty to look forward to this Autumn. Their newly announced season features exciting co-productions of Romeo a Juliet and A Midsummer Night’s Dream, alongside the world premiere of a brand-new family musical, Pinocchio over the festive period this year.
What London shows are closing in July 2025
As a new month begins, we sadly say goodbye to a few standout productions across London. Ewan McGregor concludes his much-anticipated return to the stage in My Master Builder, while Martin Freeman wraps up his powerful performance as James in The Fifth Step at @sohoplace. You still have some time to see Our Cosmic Dust, The Crucible, and Noughts and Crosses in July too, so make sure you grab those all-important last-minute tickets whilst you can!
What London shows are opening in July 2025
July is jam-packed with a fantastic array of shows, promising one heck of a summer to remember! If you missed its premiere last year, Burlesque The Musical makes its return with a limited run at the Savoy Theatre. Families can look forward to some delightful additions to their school holiday plans, with CoComelon Sing-A-Long Live!, The Tiger Who Came to Tea, and The Smeds and the Smoos all set to open in the West End. Other highlights this month include the arrivals of Til The Stars Come Down and Inter Alia.

Nick Hytner’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream is a feast for the audience’s eyes and an assault course for the cast. The show returns to London following its huge success in 2019 and the wonderful show flits by in a fluttering of fairy dust.

Flabbergast Theatre’s Romeo & Juliet at the iconic Wilton’s Music Hall is a delectable and compelling interpretation of Shakespeare’s tragic love story. This production is a darkly comedic, conceptual re-imagination of the classic drama.

The Midnight Bell, Sadler’s Wells
