Press Reviews
It is a ravishing spectacle that matches the bombast of the big numbers but also provides tender intimacy for the charming quieter moments.

At times the show undoubtedly slips into the preachy, but mercifully Winnie Holzman's script keeps the gags coming as it cleverly subverts the film that spawned it. And Joe Mantello's production, on a Heath Robinsonish design by Eugene Lee, is packed with spectacular coups de theatre and some magical lighting effects by Kenneth Posner. It proves far more enjoyable than I had dared to hope, and deserves a wider audience than adolescent schoolgirls.

We went as a family so would recommend to any age. We needed disabled assistance when we arrived and the staff were brilliant. Assisted us to the seats and offered their services for the duration of our visit. Would definitely recommend a visit to this theatre.

Fantasic show!My best friend and I went to the afternoon performance of Wicked today. The theater is spacious and only has seats in the auditorium (no balconies). The view from the back was good. This gave us a good view of the entire stage. The acting, the music, it was beautiful! We are from the Netherlands, but the English was easy to understand and understand. Only the voice of "robot wizard" could be a bit softer and clearer. This was incomprehensible and very loud. Furthermore, great and also plenty of toilets! Saves long lines.

Very loud and difficult/impossible to hear the words of the protagonists.I'm glad I went, but feel the show doesn't match the hype. I won't rush to go back. Don't go if you feel sopranos screech. I felt a long away from the stage. Before the seating was open it was a real crush in the bar area. People were sat on the stairs. Both of these were a health and safety nightmare. Drinks were expensive.

Strictly for showtunes fansI prefer musicals with more contemporary styles from pop to rock to blues, this one's clearly for lovers of classic showtunes. Not my cup of tea, but I'm sure many would love this kind of a show. The acting was good (though some of the whispery bits were hard to follow), the set was fantastic, so was the lighting and sound quality for the music.

Fantastic acting and singingThe overall show was brilliant as the actors really did a fabulous work of both acting and singing, especially the two female leads. Very good stage set up and everyone did a great job. The only problem I have is with the seat location and cost - we were in M5- M6 stall seats which happened to be close to the toilets. As a result it was smelling throughout. Furthermore views were restricted, if you are not too talk, then definitely don’t recommend these seats as you will have to struggle for the view. I am really disappointed about the seats as they costed 80£ / person. For the value , I think this was a rip off.

Great musical, but the new cast ruined the show! This was the fourth time that I saw Wicked, and as much as I was full of admiration for the singing skills to tackle some of the hardest songs like Gravity and No Good Deed, by Lucy Jones, Alexia Khadime has heavily disappointed in this role. Her strong growls were overpowering and her acting was at best mediocre (stiff and lacking emotional connection with the character). The duets that she did with Lucy St. Louis sounded like 2 elephants in the room, based on who could sing louder, instead of a pleasant to listen to unison. I heavily regret seeing the cast this time, as I expected more and so did my husband who was thrilled to see it the second time after the first performance, especially to listen to those songs. The show is great, but who selected the cast this time, and why is the question? The only thing I can think of is that since the musical will be leaving London soon, the casting directors just didn't care anymore.

10/10 for Style, Minus Several Million for Plot Coherence.Phenomenally good scenery, excellent acting, good singing, dancing, and costumes; an all around top-notch professional production. On the other hand, a single memorable song and a plot that veers all over the place, going nowhere. It would be unfair to give things away, but we get dashes of Harry Potter, Mean Girls, animal rescue, a proto-fascist Wizard, random borrowing from the original, musings on the nature of celebrity, a parade of characters who somehow manage to be both two-dimensional and inconsistent, and a couple of lame attempts at social criticism. After three hours I was as befuddled as the Scarecrow trying to figure out what the storyline was trying to do or be.

75th birthday treatWe went as a group of 4 as a treat for my mums 75th birthday. The theatre doors were delayed opening, for reasons that were not explained. This meant getting inside was rushed, with no real time to buy drinks, snacks, souvenirs etc. The performance started abruptly and some people had struggled to take their seats due to the delay. Our biggest criticism was that from our position, it was too loud and yet we couldn't actually 'hear' the words being sung. Our seats in the Dress Circle were almost opposite one of the speaker stacks and this, possibly, caused the sound to be directed straight at us, however with the level of volume and not being able to make out the words it did spoil our experience. Had this not been the case this review would have scored higher. It was shame as these seats gave us a great view!
