Grease description
Grease The Musical – Danny and Sandy are back!
Did you love Grease back in the 1970s? Did you wear the clothes and insist on the hairstyles, and did you sing along to the soundtrack? Grease has delighted millions in movie and musical form for decades, now it's back at the Dominion Theatre for another summer of love. Directed by Nikolai Foster and choreographed by Arlene Philips, are you ready for a proper stage musical spectacular?
What is Grease The Musical about?
It’s the school summer break. Danny and Sandy meet on holiday, and fall in love. Sandy is sweet and innocent, Danny is a bad boy with a soft centre. When Sandy turns up at Danny’s school the following autumn, both of them find it hard to revive their feelings. Sandy remembers the sweet boy who treated her like a lady, Danny feels he’s far is too cool for love and boasts about his conquest. Heartbreak follows until Sandy realises the only way to get her Danny back is to try to become just as cool as he is. With the help of the Pink Ladies she transforms herself into a sizzling hot woman and Danny is hers once more.
Who is Grease The Musical for?
Grease is recommended for people aged seven or over, and children under five are not allowed in the auditorium.

Really light entertainment which put a smile on our face! Music and acting top notch! The only moan was that another customer in the seat (bright)infront of us had her phone on for most of the first part of the show! I had to tell her to put it away! Not sure how you would police this but overall had an enjoyable evening!

The music and dancing were great, but it was difficult to hear the spoken words. The American accents spoken too quickly, together with poor sound quality meant that, even as a native English speaker, it was difficult to follow the text.

The show it’s a bit different from the movie. The first scene is actually quite long and I didn’t like that they were overdoing the American accent the voices quid high pitched and sometimes was hard to understand. The second scene was much better more enjoyable and they turn down the accent as well. Overall is it’s an okay show.

Great seats (Circle B47 & 48) with a great view! Spectacular singing, dancing and music with superb performances from the great young cast. Jason Donovan had a small part and wasn't as good as the rest of the cast but (sadly) got more applause. I was excited to see Jason but in the end, enjoyed the whole show whether he'd been in it or not! Please note, there are adult themes and language throughout and probably not suitable for children. Some of the touching of cast members body parts felt wrong in this day and age and probably isn't needed at all. I would suggest less of the adult language would make this show more appropriate for a wider audience.

The men’s Grease lightning number was fantastic! There was too much high-pitched singing from the ladies and too much shouting in their dialogue. Painful to the ears. Story line was not great. Nothing like the original film which I thoroughly enjoyed. I expected Sandy to stand out from the rest of the ladies with her hair colour (not black or brunette) and girlish pastel outfit, and soft gentle voice, but she didn't. Her voice was piercing. I thought the other blond girl was Sandy!

Set at the fictional Rydell High, GREASE — the perennial first crush, school musical — has previously enjoyed long runs at London theatres in the early 1970s (before the film’s release) and again in the early 1990s. This year the show celebrates 50 years since it first appeared on Broadway and to mark the milestone, a new production directed by Nikolai Foster and choreographed by West End stalwart Arlene Phillips, has just opened at the Dominion Theatre.
