Evita, London Palladium

Maybe you fancy a dose of a timeless musical in June? Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Evita heads to the West End in a brand new production directed by the award-winning director Jamie Lloyd. Led by Rachel Zegler as Eva Peron, it follows one of the most powerful women in Latin America’s journey alongside some of the most memorable music in musical history. Performances begin on 14 June.

Heading back to the London stage this month is Conor McPherson’s Girl From The North Country. The moving story of love and loss follows a group of wayward travellers searching for meaning in a local guesthouse, alongside a score of over twenty of Bob Dylan’s biggest songs. It’ll be your last time to catch this "beguiling and soulful” (Evening Standard) production at The Old Vic from 24 June.

Matthew Bourne’s The Midnight Bell, Sadler’s Wells

Talking of dance productions, Matthew Bourne’s The Midnight Bell also plays at Sadler's Wells this month. Inspired by the novels of Patrick Hamilton, this theatrical dance event transports audiences to the heart of 1930s Soho. There, a motley crew of characters gather at the Midnight Bell tavern, each chasing their own passions, desires, and dreams. The production, which first premiered in 2021 and snapped up two awards, heads to London for a limited time.

King of Pangea, King’s Head Theatre

This month also brings the world premiere of Martin Storrow’s new musical King of Pangea. Opening on the 7 June, this musical is inspired by real-life experiences and follows a young person who is grappling with the loss of his mother. His grief leads him to the imaginary island of his childhood, Pangea, where he embarks on a journey of self-discovery and hope.

London Road, Olivier Theatre (National Theatre)

Revived for the stage several times since 2011, London Road’s shocking, visceral portrayal of one community’s terrible tragedy heads to the National Theatre this month. Directed by Rufus Norris, this production follows the impact of the 2006 Ipswich serial murders and how the residents navigated the aftermath and media scrutiny, but also how they rebuilt a sense of normality and community spirit.
